How old for sweet toddler bed?

I can't stop fantasizing about buying this sweet pirateship toddler bed for my son, but he's only almost-1. I know he might technically be ready for a toddler bed in the next few months, but how old do you guys think he would honestly need to be to properly appreciate an awesome one? https://www.littletikes.com/kids-toys/pirate-ship-toddler-bed

    My son is almost 18 months old and I know he would enjoy that bed right now. However, I think he'd only want to play in it and not get much sleep! I've looked at that bed myself and as much as I like it, realistically, I think I may move right to a twin or full bed because my son is really tall and already taking up most of the crib. Since the toddler beds only take crib mattresses, it won't give us more space and I suspect he'll grow out of it fast. I had planned to have him stay in the crib until he could climb out on his own so I guess I'll make the decision then.

    That's a good point. I'm not sure lights and cannons would be at the top of my list of soothing sleep-inducers... But I still want it so bad!!

    That is a sweet pirate ship. If I had that, I'd put it in the back yard with a few inches of water in it instead of the mattress. It looks like a way more awesome kiddie pool than bed.
