How can I hide I'm pregnant at a drinking event?

I need advice on how to keep my pregnancy a secret during a weekend away with my family! It's easy to fake it at bars, but we, and especially me, always have a few beers with dinner. I'm not sure how many excuses they will believe over a 4-day weekend. I'll only be at 6 weeks, but should I just tell them if they ask? Any advice?

  • Maybe say something about having a few too many recently and say you're giving your liver a break? Lol I don't know that's all I've got. Or maybe empty a beer bottle and put something else in it? Lol sorry this is probably so not helpful.

  • That's up to you if you want to tell them. If not, then don't. I'd probably just say I'm fighting a uti or something.

  • Tell them you on an antibiotic or a new medication that can not be mixed with alcohol.  If they push, say the med is for a 'lady issue' and hopefully they will drop it.

I used that one with my first DS.

  • I'd say I'm on antibiotics. You can't drink when taking them.
  • We just went ahead and shared with family, but if you want to keep it a secret, maybe say you're on some kind of diet or cleanse? Of course then if you eat like 5 pieces of pizza people will think you are a terrible dieter.

  • Thanks for all the advice ladies!
  • Do you drink wine? I am a "fancy" box drinker. We are going up north for 4 days this weekend with my in laws and we always drink quite a bit. I am going to fill an empty box of wine with NA wine (a brand no one has tried yet). They can drink it if they want but it doesn't taste that good so I know I will be drinking it by myself. We have a plastic sealer so I will be sealing the bag after I pour the fake wine in it.

  • Tell them you have a headache or an upset stomach.
  • What I do is grab a darker beer bottle and take it to the bathroom with me, pour out the beer and fill it with water!  I take a few sips intentionally in front of people and that's it.  Drinking tap water really isn't great for you!  OR my husband will finish his beer and we will put both beers on the table next to eachother and he will pick up mine...pretending like it's his.  Then it will look like mines almost gone :) Soo sneaky!
  • My SIL would put bottles of ginger ale or ginger beer in a beer koozy.  They look like beer from the neck up and no one can tell the difference.

  • @kimC85  It's a personal decision that I've made based on what I've read.  There are risks because you don't know if tap water contains chemicals or fluoride.  It also depends where you live.  Let's be honest... it seems like there are risks associated with almost everything, I've just tried to keep my water consumption limited to filtered water.  Again, that's just me and I'm sure many would beg to differ.
  • What exactly do you think is in most of the common national brand bottled water bottles? Hint: It's very rarely spring water.

Fair enough argument I suppose.  I guess it just sounds strange to me because I've never had to worry about the quality of the water where I live.
Me either! I'm in Chicago.. I've always drank tap!
