Advice for first time mom?

Hey there, I'm new to the forums and this whole pregnancy thing... :p. My due date is April 15th. This was definitely a surprise pregnancy, and whenever I'm not pouring my energies into planning, I'm freaking out. So far I've had nausea but no vomiting yet, and I'm taking prenatals. I'm still trying to decide when I should tell my boss (I work as a gymnastics instructor, so kind of hard to hide a belly when I start to show...). If anyone has any general advice, I'd appreciate it. I'm also trying to be as green and earth friendly as possible. Thanks all!

Re: Advice for first time mom?

  • My advice is to try and enjoy this time with your partner, if you have one, or for yourself. Go out to dinner, see movies, sleep in because you may not be able to for a bit after the baby comes.

My second bit of advice it's about breast feeding: apply lanolin early, every time you breast feed and before you shower and get yourself some mothers milk tea.

    Best wishes!

  • I'm another first time mom but whenever I get anxious I remind myself that women have been doing this for millennia without books, obgyns, and the bump. It pretty much immediately settles me.

  • I'm a FTM also... I was really anxious to tell people last week when i found out and had to bite my tongue all week. However this week, I'm basically back in my pre-BFP skin and just acting like nothing has changed until its closer to time to tell or until MS kicks in (probably next week), whichever comes first!
  • Definitely enjoy the time you have with your partner before baby comes and enjoy your pregnancy. I feel like I never really got to fully enjoy my first pregnancy because I just wanted to meet my son and I was so excited to have him here that I couldn't wait for it to be over. After I had him, I missed him being inside me so much!

  • Enjoy your time now while you have it. My first pg I was barely showing at 5 months so you have some time before telling people. Obviously not everyone is the same but you seem to be in shape if you do gymnastics. Everything will be fine I promise!! Just make sure to speak your mind about what you want especially when it comes to labor delivery and your new baby. Congrats and good luck !!
  • Thanks for all the advice! I just found out today that I qualified for medical assistance so that's a major weight off my shoulders. I already told my partner and my close family but I'm so anxious to tell everyone! It's very hard to be patient and realize nobody else can tell when I feel so different.

  • I'm a FTM too and feel like I'm on the verge of a panic attack every hour. I try to take my own Mom's advice and surround myself with gratitude. It helps to remember to be thankful.
