MIL Brag

Yesterday DH asked MIL to come watch our cat for a few hours while we were both at work (kitty has epilepsy and we have to monitor his seizures). She brought along work to do while there but still took time to sweep and vacuum all the floors, scoop the cat's litter, empty the dishwasher and clean out my totally disgusting microwave. She knows I've been too tired to do big chores and wanted to help out.

No real point to this post, it just made my day and I figured we could all use some positive IL stories. :)

  • OMG my MIL would love to get in my condo and make it point to do all that then tell me how I can do it better next time. Glad you have a solid MIL, jealous haha

  • Aw! That was really sweet of her! My MIL took me grocery shopping the other night. Which was huge since she has been in the midst of moving out of the house she's lived in for 20+ years!
  • That's awesome! And kudos to you for taking such good care of a special needs animal. You're a woman after my own heart!

  • So lovely! I'm jealous lol
  • Hooray for an awesome MIL! There are far too many horrible ones out there! I'm glad you have one worth bragging about!
  • I'm so glad you posted this. I obviously don't know the relationships involved, and I know some MILs are truly dreadful, but it breaks my heart seeing so much negativity when I wish so badly my huband's mother was still around. I wish I had her here to annoy me or smother me with advice. We lost her May, 2012 to a 7 month battle with a rare cancer. She was only 52. She was amazing - never overstepping and always supporting anything my husband and I were doing, and decisions we made. I've never felt anything but love for her and from her, and I know if she was still here, she would've been amazing through this like your MIL is :)

Just good seeing someone being positive. Thank goodness for the wonderful in-laws, and also for the ones who will watch our little ones grow up from Heaven.
  • I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who LOVES her mother in law. I don't know how I would have gotten through this pregnancy without her- she's been a huge support. Of course, maybe it's the universe making up for my mom being a total psycho, but I'll take what I can get :)

We definitely have our differences but my own mom's 3 states away so it's a huge blessing to have her around to help out.

I'm in the same boat! I adore my MIL and she is just so kind, and finds ways to make me feel special and take an interest in my pregnancy even though we are so far away. (My mom, on the other hand, when she cares to answer her phone [seriously, it took me over 3 weeks to get a hold of her to tell her I had been hospitalized] still manages to upset me and make me feel bad even though there are thousands of miles between us.)
Yeah for all the great MILs out there!
