Hi everyone!
Signed up today as I feel it would be great to get some support from others in similiar situations. Been TTC since 2010. We've had a lot of testing and tried several IUIs without success and we are now moving on to IVF. Today is the day for my last AF before we start the IVF protocol. I was hoping for a miracle conception to have occured, but unfortunately AF has shown up just she should today. I've been so sad over it all day and can't concentrate. I'm scared to start the IVF protocol and all that it entails. I know at this point I have to try this avenue, though.
Anyone else out there TTC with IVF for the first time? I am 43 and am well aware this is late in life to be attempting this, but deep down I have hope plus a team of docs committed to success.

Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. "Keep going until you can't fail"
I did my first IVF in July/August and am now six weeks pregnant. I am 40. It feels like a lot but it's actually not that bad. It's time consuming with all the monitoring but fortunately it's a quick two weeks. Best of luck for a great cycle! Let me know if you have any questions. It's all fresh in my head.
Congrats on your BFP!! My worries and fears lie in the med protocol. We did medicated IUI a few times, however the amount of Follisitim used was minimal. I responded well at the time (well at least I thought so). I've just received my IVF med protocal from the RE (I've switched since the failed IUIs) and it calls for like 4x as much follistim plus a few other drugs (menopur/microlupron). Am I crazy to think it is too much stims? I know I shouldn't play doctor, but I'm worried about side effects and overstimulation.
Any advice/insight you have on IVF meds would be great.
