  That is awesome! I have the contact one and can never get it to read correctly on dd. I don't really have anything right now. Pedi told me to get the nosefrieda back out and I looked at him like he was crazy.

  Wow, that's pretty cool!  We have the temporal artery one (that actually touches the forehead) and I love it.  DH really wanted it and I thought he was crazy (really?  $35 for a thermometer?) but after talking to some moms who loved it, we got it.  I am SO glad we did - it takes DS' temperature in just a second, rather than having to deal with holding him still long enough to get an accurate underarm reading.

  @Lilnunz1 The temperature is accurate for a temporal artey reading.**
  We also have the temporal artey scanner that krscrp83 and mrsjetset mentioned and it gives the same read out but it's tough to get the hair out from behind her ears for the swipe one. This one I just have to hold the hair off her forehead and then it doesn't even have to touch her. I usually scan a few spots real quick to make sure I hit the temporal artery (highest temp).
  
  ** in the pediatrician's office both of my temporal scanners gave a temp of 102/102.2 and the pediatrician's office used an inner ear thermometer that said 100.6. I asked the pedi if my thermometers were wrong. He said no - they're measuring different things. Mine measures temporal artery and theirs measured inner ear temp. He said if you did a rectal (supposed to be most accurate) it would be somewhere inbetween and that they aren't that far off. Either way we needed to know if she had a temp and if it was rising falling. Sorry for the long response.

  We have the temporal artery forehead one also. FYI it is $49 in BRU, but only $29 at BJs.
