I posted several weeks ago that if we have a girl, we were pretty sure about Maureen. But I'm now thinking about Harriett--any thoughts? Too old lady, or could a little girl/teen pull it off?
I love it. Definitely on my list if we have a daughter. It was my great-grandmother's name and is my mother's middle name. I really wanted Aubrey Harriett (great-great-grandmother and great-grandmother), but Aubrey has jumped the shark for me lately. Too many possible strippers with that one. Still love Harriett, though.
I love Harriet, mainly beause I adore the nn Hattie. I think Harriet is perfectly doable for a teenager, our kids will have friends with all sorts of bizarre names as they are growing up, and Harriet is a legitimate name. If she wants something less serious as she grows she could use Hattie or Ettie.
I know of two babies named Harriet--one goes by Hattie and one by Harriet. I think its adorable on a baby/toddler, and will grow well with them as they age. Go for it if you like it!
Re: Harriett
I think Maureen is a better bet.

oh it makes me cringe...
Maureen is terrific and underused.
A friend of mine named her daughter that and calls her Hattie. I think it is adorable on her.
My thoughts as well.
