Baby wearing and eating is a messy business

Baby spends 99% of her time touching someone. Me or DH. I don't mind. She's very happy that way. However, I can't have hot coffee or hot meals anymore because of the possibility of hurting her. I've dropped salad, pasta (cold), you name it on the little one and/or the carrier. If someone makes a special baby wearing bib, I'll buy stock!

  • Lol. I "christened" my newly-sewn mei tai the other day by spilling coffee on the strap.

I've also dropped lots of different things on DS' head, but I don't really eat/drink stuff that's hot enough to burn a baby...I treasure my tongue. ;)

I like PP's suggestion. There's also just draping a lightweight receiving blanket (or even a nursing cover) over her head.

  • I've been joking that DD is going to start eating solids too soon because I drop so much food onto her head/face.

  • I do the thing with the head cover on the Ergo and I have to wash that thing all the time. :P Nowadays, he sits on my lap while I eat (or in his high chair! big boy!) and tries to grab all my food which is also quite messy... I think life with a baby in general is messy!
  • I leave the hood on and I usually use a little tray that I hold over her head so that all food falls on that (hopefully).

  • When LO was 10 days old we went to a froend's cook out. It was a good way for a lot of acquaintances to see the baby without having a constant stream of visitors in those first weeks. We were there 30 minutes and everyone was satisfied. It was the first time I used the moby and I was super hungry. I totally spilled pasta salad on his head. Luckily no one saw - I felt like a pretty sh!tty mom after that one.
