speaking of - Guilt!

Do you feel guilty in your choices a lot? Whether SAHM vs WM, BM vs formula, AP vs CIO, sugary foods, no tv, blah blah blah.

How much does it get to you?

TBH I only really feel guilty about my choices when I am on message boards or reading the interwebz. Otherwise I feel cool with what I am doing 99% of the time. I know DD doesn't always have the best of everything but I never really expected that to be possible.

  • I have noticed that compared to what is portrayed on the internet (not just this board by any means) I am crazy permissive. I occasionally let DD have some sugary snacks, watch a little Yo Gabba Gabba, we are weaning at a year, supplement with formula, don't research vaccines extensively, she goes to an in home daycare, etc. But compared to people I know IRL I seem like an uptight parenting expert lol.

I'm guilty about deciding to get pregnant and possibly give up breastfeeding and completely having to stop during surgery and stuff. I feel like it was really selfish.

I am sorry you feel this way. You are a great mom!

  • I don't feel guilty when reading the boards, it's more when I hear comments from family

"oh, she sleeps in your bed?"
    "oh, you don't breastfeed?"
    "where are her shoes?"
"ohhh poor thing she only drinks water, give her some juice"

    ughhh

YES! It drives my stepmom crazy when babies have bare feet.
I just talked to my pediatrician about this and she said it is good for little ones to be barefoot...helps their sensory development. It is summer! My son is barefoot all of the time. I will put socks and shoes on him when it gets cold.
