What does your diet consist of?

My girls are growing great and are usually within a few grams of eachother. My MFM doc has mentioned to me to try and stick with a high protein, lower carb diet because excess carbs adds excess water. My girls also have a really good amount of amniotic fluid. Honestly, I haven't really been watching my carbs too much and I need to start doing that.

He said I should stick to lean meats, nuts, cheese, veggies. And limit my fruits. I can't remember what he said about milk.

I need some lunch and dinner ideas for me. Help!

Re: What does your diet consist of?

  • I'm doing high protein because we are seeing a weight disordinance and my MFM said it wouldn't hurt to do high protein now. This is my list of things i'm going to squeeze in this week.

    - Cottage cheese with grapes

    - Cheddar Cheese slices

    - Hardboiled egg

    - Salmon

    - Chicken Salad

    - Chopped chicken on top of salad

    - Almonds

    - Greek Yogurt

Also, not a protein based food, but Avocado was suggested because it's a "Good" fat. My problem is I really just want chips or taquitos with them..

Cottage Cheese. Duh. I love that stuff.

I do eat Greek Yogurt and I add avocado to my salads at home. I've also been eating trail mix.

My problem is, at lunch, making a sandwich or a wrap is just soooo easy.

    Thanks for some great ideas.

  • I eat a lot of stir fry with meat and veggies. I also usually pick my protein first (grilled salmon, steak, pork loin, etc.) then make sure to pick 1 or 2 veggies for sides. Whatever we make for dinner, I make sure we have extras for lunch.

I'm eating gluten and dairy free, which is basically paleo (although I do eat rice, potatoes, and beans), and I've found some good new recipes on paleo food blogs.

  • I started out slightly underweight and am still able to exercise at 30 weeks, so my calorie intake is a little higher to compensate. I usually eat a bowl of cereal or protein bar first thing Snack: 1 cup greek yogurt milk blended with 1/2 cup frozen fruit and half a large frozen banana Lunch: large chicken breast with chedder cheese on salad (tons of veggies) and two hardboiled eggs + large muffin or lately toaster strudels (strange craving!!!) Snack: orange/grapes, a greek yogurt - if really hungry PB on a caramel popcorn cake Dinner: my rotation lately (my aversions are terrible at night) Small salad always.... Cheeseburger with 2 slices cheese + potato wedges, pasta with chicken and a roll, pizza, or pork barbecue on a roll with potato wedges. Dessert: coffee mug full of ice cream or fro-yo I try to get at least 130-150g of protein daily and lots of calcium. My babies are measuring great, within 2 ounces of each other. Definately drink milk! 8g of protein per cup and tons of calcium :)
