Sharp pain on left side?

Anyone have sharp pain on their left side? It's pretty sore. I don't remember getting RLP this early. Also I'm having lower back pain. Anyone else? Kinda worried about ectopic but I know that's probably me just worrying for nothing.

Re: Sharp pain on left side?

  • I had the same pain yesterday and the day before. I also had the flashing lights banner across my head that screamed ectopic! From what I've heard though, ectopic pain is pretty recurrent. so if its not gone in a day or so maybe ask your doc? Also the pain combined with spotting would be another reason to call :)

  • I don't think it's gas. I get gas pains frequently and they are normally more crampy/bloated feeling and are up front.

  • I had this too and ended up going to the emergency room because I was so worried but everything was fine. I was told that round ligament pain can start as early as five weeks and can cause lower back pain that is constant. Sharp pains on your lower sides and cramps are normal but you would want to be seen if the lower pains were constant and not letting up. When I went they made sure I didn't have a UTI since these could be symptoms of a UTI and are much more common when pregnant. But don't stress yourself out too much! I ended up being A-OK and told it was perfectly normal. Hope this helps ease some of your worries!

  • Thanks @marykathryn! That makes me feel better! I'm feeling like a newb right now.

  • I had that happen to me turned out to be an eptopic. Hope it's not that positives thoughts. The only thing that confirmed it before seeing a doctor is walking. It seem to be more aggravated when I moved too fast or walked around. I had no spotting at all. Good luck hope everything works out.

It definitely bothers me more when I move. It almost goes away when I lay down. Anything else besides side pain?

  • My question to you is: when was the last time you pooped?

I was rushed to the hospital back in March with excruciating pain in my lower left abdomen with back pain, and an ultrasound confirmed that I'd had an impacted bowel from severe constipation.

You really ought to call your doctor no matter what.

  • That's basically how it was with me. It did get worst the more I moved until it ruptured then laying down didn't solve it but luckily I got to the Er just as it happened and I was rushed into surgery right away, saving my tubes. I wouldn't take it lightly. I learned from that. It's scary but still it can be nothing. I don't want to scare you because I don't know for sure but I can relate to it and from that experience, I would say go to the Er. Peace of mind is worth it and your health as well as your LO, stress is no good either. Keep us updated I hope whatever you decide to do it all turns out well. Fx/T&P
  • I know I had a lot of weird pains in early pregnancy. I'm hoping this is the same. From what I've heard/read ectopic pain is unbearable and this is more annoying than anything but I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it. I appreciate your advice and I will keep you posted. I will call my dr first thing if it persists or go to the ER if it gets worse.

  • I've been having pain off and on, only on the left side as well. I immediately thought ectopic as well, but it went away and was really not severe. Maybe I need to poop more :). Hope it's better soon - def see your doc if it continues.
  • I just took some Tylenol. I'm hoping that helps. Also some other friends mentioned it might be a cyst. I hate the "unknown" part of pregnancy. I swear it makes me a crazy person.
