Still nursing on demand here. Things are going pretty good. I have been trying to cut her middle of the night nursing session. She always wakes up once during the night (usually closer to the morning) to feed. So, when she wakes up, I have just let her cry it out until she goes back to sleep. It's hard to listen to, and actually means less sleep for me instead of feeding her, but I am hoping this will work! Tonight will be night 3. Anyone done this before? How long did it take before they stopped waking up wanting to feed?
We just hit 11 months. We've gone back to biting, which means there are a lot of tears on both sides! She's gradually starting to outpace me (I think because she's reducing her intake when I'm with her, but guzzling bottles at daycare/with dad) so I'm hoping my freezer stash will carry me through. I'm thinking of reducing her bottle size during the day, but I'm afraid that less milk will = less sleep. She's got an ear infection at the moment, so she's back to waking up once a night. It's stinky.
@eshee8198 when does she bite right now? Being of a feeding? After a letdown?
How do you respond and what is her reaction?
For us, biting only happens when there isn't a fast flow. I accidentally put him on the wrong side the other day and wasn't massaging like I usually do and I got bit hard. Massage and switch nursing work for us, and I try to give a ton of attention to him when he is nursing so he gets positive attention rather than negative attention when he bites.
For the most part, things are going well here. I started back to work this week and my LO is refusing to drink milk at daycare. I pumped 2 times the first couple days at work and 1 time the other two days. I plan on pumping 1 time a day next week and then quitting pumping. She continues to nurse a lot when we're together, so I hope my supply keeps up even when I discontinue pumping next week.

That's the worst part, she bites at the very end! Or she'll bite when she's done with one side, but still wants to nurse on the other. I've tried not reacting (she laughs), reacting and removing (she cries hysterically and throws herself on my lap), sticking a finger in her mouth immediately (back to hysterical crying), not reacting but ending the session and stepping away from her (hysterical crying), and pulling her closer so it's harder for her to bite. The last one is the most effective, but tough - she's sneaky and she still manages to get some bites in.

Oh, and she's also started this bad habit of face scratching and pinching during occasional nursing sessions...I don't want to discourage her nursing at all since we get so few sessions together, but sometimes it makes me crazy!
Still nursing 2-3 times a day. Sawyer doesn't have any teeth yet but she still chomps down on me occasionally. I'm going to start weaning in a month or two and I'm a little bit sad about it.

Still going. Her 8th tooth has made its appearance. I have 2 scabbed, bloody teeth marks on the underside of one nipple... but she isn't biting, and her latch is great. That's what has been making nursing and pumping painful. Oh well, after going through what we went through in the beginning, this is a piece of cake.
We are nursing 3x a day on weekdays and 5x a day on weekends. I'm still pumping 3x a day at work, and once in the morning 7 days and once at night 7 days. I think I'll drop a work session next week. 33 days until her birthday! I still plan to follow her lead, and hope to continue nursing for a long time.
Still nursing and pumping. I have dropped my afternoon pump session at work and used about 15 oz from my freezer to keep up with her at DC. Since that is about 6% of my milk, I am good for a couple more weeks.
My plan is to pump in the mornings for 2 more weeks and wean from the pump after her birthday. Her Doc appt is the 5th and I am assuming we re going to try and wean her from her reflux meds at that point, so I will pump for an extra week or so, so that we only wean one thing at a time.
I am amazed that we have made it so long. I honestly didn't think I would make it with all the weight issues we had in the beginning. (I am pretty sure I say that every time.)

Ugh. Sounds not fun. I think I'd try to beat her to it; like when the flow slows down, unlatch and put her on the other side so that she doesn't have the opportunity to bite.
I'm still chugging along. He nurses all the time (well, not really but about 7 times a day still). At least he's consistent.
I'm nervous about going back to work and navigating pumping and whatnot. Since he currently nurses so often, I don't think I could successfully not pump at work without ending up with clogs and mastitis unless I drop some feedings now. But, I'm not really willing to do that since we are traveling next week and adjusting to daycare, and I think adding in one more transition would be too rough. So I'm just going to keep nursing him as per usual, and then pump probably twice at work. I'm hoping I get an office but I really don't know, and they won't really have to provide me a place to pump since he'll be over a year on the 15th. *sigh*
I think I might have to pump in my car since I'm going to be traveling all over the county to different schools. If anyone has advice on that, I'd love to hear it.
ERy will start in the toddler room, so it's just milk at meals, not on demand, so that will be all new. I'm going to send BM in, but I'm not sure whether it will be in an open cup (the kids I saw the other day had open cups, but he will be the youngest by a good amount) or a sippy. I'm worried if it's an open cup he will just spill it all.
Clearly, I'm a hot mess about this transition and how it will influence our nursing relationship.
Ellie turns one on Thursday. I stopped my last pump at work yesterday. We will wean the rest of the nursing in the coming weeks. She will finish my stash at daycare and switch to wcm. I can't believe I made it a year!
I'm not going to try to cut out sessions till 12 months. We still do a 5 am-ish session & then she goes back to sleep for 2-3 hrs. I am not looking forward to cutting that out b/c I'm afraid she won't go back to sleep w/o it. That's gunna suck.

I pump in the car! Sometimes as the driver, sometimes as the passenger. I actually like it.
I still EP and have no plans of stopping as of now.
We are down to nursing one session and pumping 4x because my supply sucks since getting KU and I'm having to supplement with my freezer stash. My nipples are really sore and I get bad cramping whenever I do BF/pump, so I have considered quitting. It just makes me feel awful, because I only have 4 weeks left until W turns 1. I would totally feel like I was just giving up for my own comfort, which doesn't seem right. I'm really depressed about it right now.
Hi all! Going good here! She just got her first tooth but there hasn't been much biting yet. I just got my second period, but last month it was barely there--8this month it's for real. Luckily my supply seems fine. Probably helps that she was recently sick and nursing throughout the night!
@anoe1113 teach me your ways! What do you wear to work/pump in? What do you wear in the car?
I wear whatever I would normally wear. Depending on what I am wearing I'll pull my top up or down to pump. I have the hands free bra and a nursing cover (both a must!) If I'm the driver I get my seat belt on and then get all connected and start. I just have to check under my cover to make sure I don't overflow, which I've done . It sounds intimidating but once you realize that you can kill two birds with one stone its great. Usually my DH drives to work and I'm the passenger but it has happened where I have to pump and drive. I like mulit-tasking!
I haven't been on this board in a long time, but I've been waiting to find this check-in again. I'm still home with DS so I've had no reason to cut back on nursing for work-related reasons yet.... Back to work the week after next, so things must change soon and it makes me sad. DS is still nursing 7-8 times/day. But this includes 2-3x/night which I know is ridiculous. He is not a good sleeper and wakes up in the middle of the night demanding the nurse. He'll throw the pacifier across the room if I offer it. I think it is more for comfort than hunger, but if I offer the boob he happily nurses and then rolls over and goes back to sleep. Since I have to cut out 2 daytime sessions soon, I'm not going to cut out the nighttime sessions yet. Lots of changes coming up for my little man. With our pedi's permission I started giving him minimal amounts of WCM with his meals. He has been fussy about taking a bottle/sippy so we need to work on that before I am back at work. Some days he takes the WCM, other days not more than a sip. Next week I'm dropping the lunchtime feeding and will see how he does with the bottle only for that feed. I wish I could continue to nurse full time, but pumping is not going to work with my job. I also love how many calories I am burning with full time nursing and am going to really have to start watching what I eat!
Oh, and I forget who was having the biting issues, but DS was doing it too when he was done with each side. I started telling him "no bite" when he latches on and he hasn't bitten me in a few days, so maybe he understands???
@mrssqueegy Totally makes sense to me. I actually almost cried when I told a few of my coworkers that I am going to drop one pumping session. Now THAT'S crazy.
@anoe1113 teach me your ways! What do you wear to work/pump in? What do you wear in the car?
@fireflygirl12 I'm sorry it's going rough for you right now. Regardless, 11 months is amazing.
I pump in the car! I found it's a great place to power pump. I just wear a tank top under my regular shirt, then do tank top down, regular short up. That plus a normal bra is enough to keep everything in place and covered.

@Linzeek44 I pump in the car when I travel. I usually put a hands free zip front bra over my clothes (pull nursing bra fronts down), put my seat belt on, hook up my pump, tuck an A&A blanket in my bra straps and drive. When my time is up or my boobs are empty, I unhook. I usually leave my blanket and zipped bra on until I reach my destination then put everything away and in my cooler. Good luck figuring it all out.

Still nursing about 5 times a day. Pumping every morning and one or two times at work. I work 8am-4:30pm Monday thru Friday. I'm going to slowly go down to one pumping session at work then to none. I'm hoping my body will regulate and I'll still be able to nurse in the morning and evening before bed. I'm looking forward to less pumping but I do love nursing. Except the biting. That sucks:(

@PamelaC We're in the same boat with feeding a few times overnight, so you're not alone!
And I agree too about watching what I eat when I cut back on BFing.
We're still going. My plan was to start weaning at 1yr which is next weekend but it seems like my body wants to start early. I'm not getting the same amount of milk as I use when pumping. I'm down about 3oz when I pump. I Also feel like dd isn't getting enough when she nurses even tho she seems content after. I'm also not really sure if I want to wean. I love nursing and the bonding time with dd I just don't want it to end.
Also I haven't read up on anything for weaning so I need to do that before I start. Hopefully I can make it a longer and supply picks up a little for me to continue.
We are still here and doing just fine! DD nurses on demand, so sometimes 5 times a day sometimes 8 times a day. Still no teeth but I think her bottom 2 might be just starting to try now. She will be 1 on Thursday and I am so happy but so sad too! We have no plans of weaning right now. Still no AF. Still won't take a sippy.

@jonesaj I think I'd probably try power pumping while watching some tv for three days in a row and see if I noticed a difference. Most moms I know see a difference within three days, so I'd try that, and if it works, great, and if it doesn't, at least you got to watch some tv.
I think this weekend will be my last overnight with a pump! We are down to nursing 3 times a day and I pump once at work. She gets 10oz in bottles while I work plus 4oz in a sippy. Next week, we are going to up the sippy and lower the bottles. I have 300+ oz still in the freezer so we are using that.
We're still going, though DS will only nurse at nap time, night time, or first thing in the morning in his room, so I've become mostly an EPer. He just gets too distracted then bites (a lot) when anywhere else.
I've been thinking of starting the CM transition so I can drop a pumping session. We'll probably give it another week or two. Also, add me to team "pump in car." I've been doing it all year. It's a great way to multi-task!

Still bf'ing about four times a day and dropped my work pumping session for the first time last week. My supply has really gone down, so I just pump when I get home now. It was very weird for me to have a "normal" lunch break. Kind of sad actually. LO tried wcm for the first time and loves it so I am relieved to know I can supplement her bottles with that, and she is great with drinking water as well. I have officially used up all my freezer stash... So no turning back here. Let the wean begin! (Believe me I will continue ue to whip out that boobie when nap time rolls around for a while though!)
I'm here too, checking in a few days late. Busy weekend. I've been back at work since school started 2 weeks ago, pumping 2x/day for 10 min each session. This gets me just about 6 oz to send to day care for his after nap (both am & pm) sippy cups. W gets WCM and water at mealtimes. We're nursing in the morning and at night. Planning on dropping to one midday pump later this week and dipping into the freezer stash as well. I want to be done with pumping and will hopefully nurse for a while longer while we're together. W's bday is on Friday and I am so proud that WE have made it this far! not sure what the plan is for fully weaning.....with J, he weaned at 13m but it was summer and I was able to drop feedings more naturally. I am really looking forward to wearing real bras again! Stopped in to Victoria's Secret yesterday to redeem a coupon, and they had a some promotion or sale on bras. It reminded me that I'll get to pack away my nursing bras pretty soon! I'll have to head somewhere to get remeasured since "things" are waaaaaay different post-nursing than they were before.
We're still nursing here. My supply has dropped a lot, but I think I will make it until his birthday! I pump in the morning when I get up for work, then DS drinks that bottle before daycare. He gets bottles at daycare around 9 and 12 and then I nurse him around dinner time and before bed. We cut out the afternoon feeding at 9 months.
I'm still pumping twice at work to have enough for the next day. I still have a big freezer stash. I've been rotating this whole time. So, he gets a bottle of frozen milk and a bottle of fresh milk at daycare,
It's still so sad to read about all of us weaning. But, we almost made it!!
We are still here too! Ds2 will be 1 in about 2 weeks. This week I stopped pumping at work and only pump when I get home since Lo is already asleep. Ds2 nurses about 4-6 times a day including 1-2 sessions during the night. This week we are trying to just go in and turn on his crib soother/pacifier and keep him in the crib with some modified CIO rather than just boob him back down. He's been eating more solids now, and getting a better hang of the sippy cup. He only has 4 teeth and hasn't been too much of a biter. A few no's and early ended nursing sessions worked for him luckily. I still have quite a bit of freezer stash so we are dipping into it. My supply tanks with my period (I've only had 2 pp) so we'll see if he will wean during next month's cycle or if we will still be nursing. Ds1 weaned when I had my 3rd pp period and didn't look back. I'm happy we will make it to a year!
DD still nurses 3 X a day on weekends, and just AM and PM with a cup of frozen milk at daycare. The only time I pump now is if I'm away from DD overnight. She bites occasionally, but so far (fingers crossed) it hasn't broken the skin. I find she does it the most when she's getting ready to be done eating. Once she hits a year, I'll have to decide when we're going to wean off of AM and PM sessions, but I don't feel like we're in a rush about it.
