Table Food

I've been experimenting with different table foods with T, and he has become really picky. It seems like the only thing he will eat are crackers and fruit. Do I just keep trying different foods along with what he likes and hope he will eventually like them? The kid can't eat pureed foods forever! I worry that he isn't getting enough to eat.

    Just keep trying. Will he eat rice, oatmeal, pasta? You can try doing some foods mixed with fruit until he will eat it without fruit. Like some shredded chicken/beef or fish mixed with pears and mango. Mix veggies and fruits too. Put some hummus or cheese on a cracker. Will he eat a quesadilla, you can fill them with all kinds of good things.

    Will he let you feed him solids from a fork/spoon? That is the easiest way to mix foods with fruit to ensure he doesn't just pick out the fruit.

    It's like he will eat all carbs/fruit. I will try to mix some things to see what he will do. Sometimes he will eat off of a fork/spoon, sometimes he wants to self feed. So unpredictable. I might try to mix something into a quesadilla tonight - thanks for all of the suggestions!

    I would just keep trying. He'll figure it out eventually. 
    Have you tried small pieces (like beans, small pieces of fruit, cheese, etc) vs larger pieces (like a wedge of avocado to hold onto and nom, or a banana, etc.)? He might prefer one over the other. 

    In the beginning DD would only eat larger pieces she could hold in her fist and take bites off of/chew on. Now she would much prefer smaller, single-bite pieces she can pick up and shove in her mouth. 

    Some popular table foods for us are: black beans, cheerios, toast with butter, cottage cheese, pasta with veggie puree mixed in (as "sauce").

    Does he eat pasta? We mix all kinds of veggies and meat in the sauce.

    Ditto quesadilla. We put black beans and green peppers and corn in ours.

    E went through a phase where he wouldn't really eat big veggies but would eat corn and peas. Have you tried tiny ones?
