Of course I can't find my appointment reminder sheet this morning and the office isnt't open yet! I know I'm supposed to drink a ton of water within an hour of my a/s appointment, but the numbers 40oz and 100oz are both stock in my head: Kind of a big gap! What was recommended for you guys?

Jude Meyer was born January 12, 2014, at 21 inches, 7lb, 8oz.
The nurse told me between 32 and 40 oz. That was the only part about the u/s that I hated. I was on the table for almost an hour and a half, because LO was not cooperating. I almost peed in my pants.
Nothing. By 18-20w your uterus is large enough to see the baby without a full bladder. Those of you that have to drink water, they're simply trying to torture you for funsies.
Mine has never told me anything. Besides that, I had to give them a urine sample before i went in for my a/s so i completely emptied my bladder. I think you're ok either way.

Well that's just rude! I was seconds away from crying, I had to pee so bad! That was not fun. (
I was never told to drink a certain amount but had heard that u/s are easier for the tech if your bladder is full. That seems subjective, to me!
That said, when LO was being uncooperative toward the end of my scan, the tech had me empty my bladder to try and get her to move around more! So I guess really anything can happen. It is pregnancy, after all.
I didn't have a water requirement for my A/S. I actually drank too much (just because I drink a lot of water) and had to use the bathroom mid u/s to get LO to move around more. Apparently my overfilled bladder was taking up too much room.

My paperwork just says a "comfortably full" bladder. For the NT scan it said 32 oz and an "uncomfortably full" bladder. So somewhat less than 32 oz I guess.

They told me to drink water, because with a full bladder they can check your cervix and placenta location. I have a partial previa again this time around.
As for the original question, I don't remember how much was recommended, but I ended up drinking 64 oz starting at 1.5 hours from the appointment, peed 3 times in 30 minutes (I got there really early) but still had a full enough bladder to check the location of the placenta to the cervix.

It's true...my paper says drink 24oz 1.5 hrs prior, but with DD she made me empty HALF (ya, right...) and then it was still too full, so I had to empty it all the way. The tech at the time told me they need the water in the bladder for checking something on the Mother (kidneys? liver? something like that) and not for actually checking baby... so this time around I'm emptying my bladder 1 hr before my appt.
I was tld that you don't need to have a ful bladder for the AS, only for the NT scan.
I didnt have a full bladder for my NT scan. In fact, they told me to try and pee before I went in. Is my doctor just doing everything bass-ackwards? Lol
When I had my NT scan I had too much in my bladder and she said it was causing shadow, so I guess not full, but drink a bottle of water that hour before. I'm actually not having mine done by my doctor- they send you to the hospital's Maternal-Fetal Evaulation Unit and it was the US tec who told me. Maybe everyone has different preferences?!!
I have my anatomy ultrasound tonight but they didn't tell me anything about water. I tend to drink lots of water anyways and if my bladder is too full then they will ask me to empty it. I am so excited for tonight!! We made it a late appointment so my husband doesn't have to take time off work but I hate waiting all day!

@pennstated912 - haha. Nah, I don't think so. I've had like 7 u/s so far. I'm always the first appt of the morning so I have like 12 oz when I wake up. Then pee right before going in for the scan and it's always fine. The doc never has a problem and she's never mentioned drinking more (or any specifically).

My bladder seems to always be full these days! BLAH! I was actually told to have an empty bladder, but that is because I am getting an internal U/S at the same time for a cervial check. My doctor told me, like @mrsjenni said, that your uterus is big enough by now that they don't need a full bladder to raise the baby up. They saw my little one just fine at 16 weeks with a completely empty bladder. Otherwise, I was told to drink 24oz an hour before my appointment during my 9 week scan.
Re: How much water pre-A/S?
But don't drink 24 ox - drink 24 oz.

I'm scheduled for a level-2 u/s for this Friday. Should I be drinking water for this or is the level-2 somehow different from the anatomy scan?
I feel like this is a silly question...
