I'm sure this has been asked, but I can't find it... I'm a FTM and I'm debating a pack n play? We have a 2 story house and LO's nursery is upstairs.. I would get a pack n play with a changing station. Would you ladies recommend buying one? Thanks!
I would not get a pack n play just for the changing station - they are really flimsy and pretty low if you are taller. I would get a pack n play for travel and for a safe place to put baby downstairs.
We plan on getting the RnP for our room, and the PnP for downstairs. I don't really want to go upstairs every time the baby falls asleep, so I'll probably use it for that reason.
It can also be a safe place to stick LO for a quick run to the bathroom, or to get dinner in/out of the oven, etc.
I'd skip on the changing station and get a full sized PnP like the Graco Tot Block, Delta Fun Time, or Joovy 2. The ones that come with all the stuff are quickly outgrown. Take it from someone who has 2.
We have a finished basement & this is what I use for the boys changing stuff:
I'm in the same situation as you, minus the RNP in our bedroom. Our PNP is set up in our sitting room on the main level and I've stored extra clothes, bibs, blankets and changing needs in the storage compartments. I wanted a place for the baby to nap on the main level or to be able to put LO down without our dachshunds being able to reach LO. In any of the swings, they would be able to reach LO. Also, we do intend to travel and having the ability to convert the PNP with changer and bassinet to one a toddler can use was key for us. HTH!
My LO slept in the RNP at night for the first 3 months, then we transitioned to the crib. I put the PNP in the living room for naps and diaper changing. We did use it for naps (in the napper) but I couldn't use it for changing because of the low height. Otherwise, it became a storage unit for her outfits and diapers because we primarily did all diaper/outfit changes downstairs during the first 3 months.
I skipped a PNP all together and made a diaper caddy out of an $8 basket and an extra changing pad. If LO fell asleep downstairs I either held her, put her in the swing or on the couch on her Boppy Infant Positioner (which I loved!).
We plan to get a PnP for #2 bc we have a new house and all bedrooms are upstairs. I would like a place for changing tho we also have all HWF and i change DS on the floor. Dunno if ill be up for that postpartum. and i need it for putting the LO down in a safe place between a toddler and a dog!
Not the most chic but we bought a cheap changing table off Craigslist and we use that. We also have a 2 story house with the kids rooms upstairs and it's just not feasible to go up every time. I prefer that to having a PNP assembled all the time. We also love the storage underneath for shoes, jackets, etc.
We were 2 under 2, now 3 under 3!

I was in the same situation (bedroom downstairs, nursery upstairs) and I don't regret getting a PNP at all! DS slept in it for the first 5 months and it was so convenient to have him next to our bed. We still use it for naps and a place for him to hang out in while we get dressed in the morning. And we only change diapers in our bedroom so the changing table on the PNP was really useful. We got the Chicco Lullaby one.

We do have a PNP that we use also because we travel quite a bit but I have liked having a dedicated changing station downstairs loaded up.
