Success after IF

iui, natural or medicated?

We are thinking of getting back into if treatment. My re has detertimed that we might have mostly a male factor issue (dh sperm have a coating on them), before it was an undetermined (we didnt have dh sperm tested as much last time). Anyways he has given us the option of doing with medicated iui (same as we did for ds1) or try an unmedicated cycle and with sperm washing we have a chance of getting pg.

Wwyd?

I am thinking of using the medicated cycle. The only reason I am leaning towards the natural cycle is last time I got cysts from the medicated cycle and had to take a rest cycle.

Re: iui, natural or medicated?

  • If it was me I would do a medicated cycle. If you are going to do an IUI anyway why not give yourself the greatest chance for success?

  • Thanks, that is what I was thinking as well.  I just hope I don't get cysts.  Anyone know if you get them once if your prone to getting them every time?  If I do get them it could work in my benefit that I don't cycle right before christmas. But with their closer schedule over christmas I would be resting for 2 months. :(

  • I was on puregon.  This is a different (and better) RE then I had with ds. He made it very clear it will be a lower dose of puregon this time then I had with ds. Maybe that alone will be enough to lower the risk of cysts. I forgot to ask him a ton of questions at our first meeting.  I was just in such awe of meeting him (he is onenof the top RE in Canada) and he pretty much made me lose all train of thought when he said that I will get pregnant it is just a matter of getting some help with it.  He seems so confident and I have stopped worring as much.  But now that it is getting close to cycling again I am freaking out. Lol

This, I'm not familiar with the drug you will be taking, so no advice there. GL on your cycle though.

After 4 years, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs our surprise miracle is here!
