27 weeks PP & still no period...

I'm not sure if there is anyone else out there that's experiencing this....
My DD is 6 months old and I have still have not had my period and she is exclusively formula fed (breast fed only for 4 days after birth). I've taken a pregnancy test & it was negative.
Im just hoping I'm not the only one...any one experience this?

Re: 27 weeks PP & still no period...

  • Wow! That is unusual. Mine came back about 2 or 3 months after I stopped BF, and my OB said that was unusual but not unheard of. Are you using a hormonal birth control?

  • If you're not using hormonal BC, I would say you should talk to your OB. If you are, well, maybe talk to him/her anyway. :-) With both of my girls, I've gotten my period a couple of weeks after I stopped pumping.

  • Ya not on any hormonal birth control...

I know when I was on depo provera BC like 5 years it took me an entire year to get my period after I stopped taking it and I have not been on any type of BC since then. I wonder if my body is just weird LOL.. def going to ask my doctor the next time I see him.
  • I didn't get a pp until I was 8 months pp after my daughter, but I was bfing.  Does your LO sleep through the night? I've been told that the hormones that cause your PP period to return don't have enough time to really build up until your LO sttn... but no idea if that is "true" or just Dr. Google true (heard through a non-medical relative so take it with some salt).

Definitely not true for everyone. DD2 is still waking up 3-10x / night, and my PP period came back about 2-3 weeks after I stopped pumping.

I'm pretty sure this is related to BFing. If your LO starts sttn and you're not BFing for 12 hours at a time, then your period is more likely to come back.
