Re: Vent: Dog is killing me right now!

  • Vent away mama. My sister has three doxie's and they are very needy. Pup probably senses that the baby is coming and is doing anything to get attention. Good or bad. I don't have any advice for you but will send positive thoughts your way. Try to spend extra time playing and cuddling with him.

  • What a PITA! Not sure what that solution is, maybe locking him in the bathroom at night? Does he have a bed or blanket he is used to sleeping on that you can move into the create at night? Best of luck!
  • Maybe if you being the crate inside your room that may help. I have a dachshund as well and she's very needy also. Your doggie is probably sensing a baby coming and wants to get attention....I had to leave mine outside the other night because she was just acting up and peeing everywhere.
  • I'm sorry! That's so frustrating!! I feel a loving frustration towards my cats at night. They are constantly in and out of bed with me thinking they want to eat. And then come back in and take up half my space or get in my face. My male has been wandering around my house for the last 2 months howling at night. I know they just want to cuddle (not the meowing) but I'm annoyed and tired!!
  • That's exhausting to deal with - I'm sorry!

My only advice would be more exercise.  You might be giving him the normal amount but if he is stressed about the upcoming changes, it will probably benefit him.  A tired dog is a (more) well behaved dog.

Also, I agree with the suggestions from @Dee2588 to try the crate in your room with the door open for a few nights.  If he has separation anxiety, it's a lot to ask of him to sleep by himself after years of being with you guys.

    Good luck!
