A couple of days ago a woman on my month board posted about how her OB scheduled an induction for her for the following day, 41 weeks, because he wouldn't let her go past 42 weeks and there were no appointments available the following week. (!!!) She said she felt like crying and had really been hoping to avoid an induction. My heart broke for her. I've been checking compulsively but she hasn't posted since, which I'm guessing is because she was induced and now has a baby. I just feel sad for her, that she probably didn't get the birth experience she wanted, and frustrated with current medical practice that puts schedules ahead of mom's needs/desires. No other point to this post... hoping you won't flame me like the month board moms have for expressing reservations about pointless inductions.
Re: sad for mom on my month board
@sschwege Yeah, you're right. I shouldn't have called it flaming.
I didn't read the OP but I'm not down with blaming a pregnant woman (or any patient, for that matter) for complying with her doctor - the entire US has a problem with trusting our physicians without question + physicians thinking they call all the shots, which is a sad state of affairs.
