Cold Virus Hell and GD

I have an awful, awful cold (cough, fever, chills & sweats), it really has been 3 days of pure hell. All I can consume is cough syrup, soup, gatorade and apple juice all things that skyrocket my glucose numbers. Anyone else have this issue and any solutions to keep numbers normal or close to it.

Thanks Mommas!

Re: Cold Virus Hell and GD

  • when I got sick when PG, I didn't take any meds (I didn't take any all PG). I just "toughed it out" and even when I was sick, I stick with the GD.

I know it sucks. it sucks a lot. especially "force feeding" yourself when you really don't want to.

I found a Chicken Noodle Soup at Trader Joes that was only 30 g. carbs for the whole box (it was a "smaller"/individual sized box). Chicken broth would always be fine to have. I know gatorade/powerade make a sugar free version. That might be worth looking into if it is something you want.

I hope you feel better soon!

  • "low calorie" gatorade has been my friend on days like that. I just replace the carbs in my meals that I'm not eating anyways with the gatorade, and try to get some scrambled eggs or something down for protein.

Also, look for sugar free cough syrup. They do make it for diabetics.
