Camomile tea???

I have heard mixed reviews about drinking chamomile tea when pregnant. I used to drink decaf green tea but then heard that was bad, so I switched to chamomile...which I hear may or may not be good???!?

Re: Camomile tea???

  • In large doses chamomile can cause miscarriage. I assume your not drinking moe than a gallon if tea a day. I've heard it can help with nausea but have never tried it.

  • I usually drink one in the morning and one at night before bed time. Do you think switching back to green tea would be more safe?
  • I've heard some mixed things on some teas.  I've been drinking an herbal detox tea for almost 2 years, until about 2 weeks ago, when I found out I was pregnant.  I was already almost 5 weeks before I realized that the box said not to drink while pregnant.  Even though it was only 1 cup a day, the midwife said I should stop.  So I picked up some peppermint tea, which is also recommended for nausea, smells really good, and is safe to drink.

  • I actually asked my doctor specifically about chamomile and she said in moderation it was okay.

  • Thanks guys!
  • Green tea interferes with folic acid absorption for the baby (or something like that) so steer clear of that.
  • That's what I heard, so I stopped drinking it...
