Skin Tags / Ear Tags

My DD was born with skin tags, or ear tags, extra skin grew in front of her ears. She is 9 1/2 months old now, I was just wondering if any one else has a child that was born with these. Our pediatrician swears they are common but until DD was born I had never seen anyone with them.

    Do you plan to have them removed? DD has a small one infront of one, and a large one in front of the other, the pediatrician told us her small one is usually as large as they get, so we had to have an ultrasound on her kidneys.

    We're not planning on it unless they get a lot bigger. The babies are 3 months old now & they haven't gotten any bigger.

    Yeah, my daughters never did get any bigger but we plan to have them removed after she turns a year old. I have mixed feelings about it. I feel like I should leave them, and give her the option to have them removed if she wants. But am so afraid that once she starts school kids will make fun of her, I even had someone in my family giggle and say it reminds them of shrek. Ugh.

    Hi! New here, but had some input that was a little different so I thought I would share.

    My DD2 (27 days old,) had 2 skin tags in front of her ear. One fell off within 3 days of birth, the other is more "attached". I pointed them out to the ped who saw us in the hospital and he ordered a kidney ultrasound immediately.

    Apparently skin tags in the region around the ears can be indicative of a kidney issue. She was revealed to be healthy - no kidney issues what so ever, but it is something to think about / follow up on in a newb.

    DD had a kidney ultrasound also, we had just changed pediatrician after she turned a month old and the new one had us get an ultrasound the day after her appt. She was also healthy. :)
