The mystery is solved!!!

We are no longer team green!! As of 6:37pm last night, we are team blue!!!!
Starting at 41 weeks with a night of cervidil, a day of pitocin and a few hours of an epidural, mixed with an uncooperative cervix, Matthew was delivered by c-section at 6:37 pm on Saturday, August 24th. 8 lbs 2oz, 21 inches, and a surprisingly proportionate head (head was in the 98th percentile and body was 60th at the 36 week (?) ultrasound).
He won't latch on at all, and won't even suck on a finger. A lactation consultant should be visiting today sometime. But he loves skin to skin and being swaddled.
I can't stop looking at him!! He is just perfect and beautiful and a master drooling machine already! Heehee

Well, the LC was very helpful! She was able to detect that Matthew is tongue tied and that's why he can't latch on! His frenulum is too long and his upper palate is too high. So, there's a note in my file for the pediatrician to check him when they make the hospital rounds tomorrow. I guess they just snip the frenulum in a simple procedure. The LC said it's simpler than the circumcision he had this morning!
So, I'm trying out a nipple shield to help him. He's responded to it and got some colostrum. The other challenge is I'm not producing much right now because of the c section in addition to him not latching, so I have to pump after every time I try to nurse to stimulate milk supply. Who knew it'd be so many steps to just TRY to feed a baby?!?
