***<><>AMA weekly check-in<><>***This check-in is for Friday, August 23, 2013. Hi ladies! I’m happy to report all painting of the kitchen cabinets are done! Now it is Mr. Bug’s turn to hang the cabinet doors. I’m really happy with how they turned out and wished we had done this so much sooner. As soon as the doors are hung I’ll post some before and after pics. For those who are wanting to participate in the Elfster exchange, I will be setting up that today and will send out a message with the link. ♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~ no new members ♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~ no BFPs ♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~ This is a check-in designed for us that are AMA (35+) and dealing with that added challenge in our TTCAL journeys. ashellypnut - Did you end up having a talk with your friend about backing off on texting/talking to you about her pg? (((hugs))) This is so hard already and having friends who appear to have zero problems getting pg do not make it any easier.
ball.and.chain - How are you doing? I stalked you and saw that your ute is fine! Yay! It sounds like your RE has a good plan on what she wants to do going forward and is being very proactive.
clh4444 - I can’t believe FF is taking away your CHs if you take out those two temps! I know it is annoying that you temps are not that much higher than your coverline (you can manually move that down if it really bothers you) but, in the end, the coverline is just a visual aid. FX for you!
Eliz77 - Did you decide whether you were going to bench yourself another month?
gscoville - Nice CHs lady! And I like your timing. I know that has been an issue with all of your travelling. One week of the 2WW down. How are you holding up?
HoldingOutHope - I know part of your benching is to confirm that you are ovulating. Is your doc going to do ultrasounds or blood work (or both)? Do you have any plans or goals you want to do during your benched time?
Junebug060609 - Hi lovely lady, we miss seeing you around here ((((hugs)))). Did YH find you a place? I had my DH get a mailbox so we can start having some mail forwarded and have a valid address for my applications. What was your final decision on the hysteroscopy?
katib77 - You should be a couple days away from starting BCP. I’m restraining myself from throwing in a lot of exclamation points at this time. I’m really excited for you to be starting your IVF cycle! How are you doing?
Pintobean39 - How are you and your son doing? I don’t know if you have thought about doing yoga for relaxation but it’s something I really enjoy and it’s nice to do something just for yourself.
MsAmandaPants - Hey there cycle buddy! I think there are three of us on this check-in at 7dpo. This is going to be a very slow week. Many (((hugs))).
RN536 - Big (((hugs))) and I hope your mom’s second round of chemo is going as well as it can. I know it is hard to stay positive. If you do end up having to take a two cycle break, hopefully you can use that time to regroup.
VeganLady - Hey! You are the only person I know who posted a pic of the dildo cam. How did the appointment go and when is your next monitoring u/s? Also, how are you doing on the clomid? To any of our other ladies who missed the last check-in: how are you? ♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~
Question of the Week: When I was a kid this was one of my all time favorite things:
So, I'm going to use it to inspire our question of the week: If you were a crayon what color would you be? Why?
Thanks for running the check-in @buggirl72! Congratulations on getting the cabinets done that is a massive undertaking. We are actually thinking about re-doing ours, so I might be asking you for some pointers (i.e. don't do it in 115 degree heat!). Funny how we make our houses far nicer and more livable when we are trying to sell them, than when we were trying to live in them.
Update: I called and asked yet again if they wanted me to come in for a 7dpiui progesterone check. This time the nurse said that they did want to me to come in! I just got the results and my progesterone is over 60 (I was so excited that I promptly forgot the number). I'm hoping this is a good sign.
QOTW: I can't remember all my Crayon colors, but I think I nice deep blue. Still waters run deep and all that, as well as it being just a really calming color. I'm aspiring to be less anxious

That is such a good level and hopefully makes you feel better about where your progesterone is at.
I like your color choice! I wonder what an anxious color would be?
@buggirl72. Congrats on finishing the cabinets. Did you take before and after pics? I love to see projects people have done.
My son and I are doing much better, thanks! He's gone to school all week and is doing good. He had all his makeup work done for Monday on his first day back and made up all the test this week. I looked at his grades today he has straight a's so far. We had more psychiatrist appts this week. They are now saying he has aspergers and when he found out he was kinda happy about it. He said it made him feel like there is a reason he can't handle things and that he is the way he is.
I actually use to do yoga but had to quit last year because of my Ménière's. I still can't do it since the surgery because turning my head sideways still knocks my balance off. Eventually one day I hope that goes away. I do vestibular exercises daily but my damn brain is stubborn and can't seem to get the picture.
ETA: if I were a crayon I'd be red. I love red its such a bright strong color and I like to think I'm a bright strong individual.

Good! I'm glad he is doing well and that you both have a diagnosis that explains what is going on.
Hi buggirl, thanks for checking in. Thats awesome the cabinets are done, I am sure it looks like a brand new kitchen. So exciting. Now get Mr. Bug to work!
Thanks for the thoughts of mom. She is feeling very tired today and is having a lot of problems "down there" from the tumor. Dr says all we can do is keep an eye on it and hope that things don't get worse. I feel bad for her.
I am cd 9 and drinking my pom juice every day along with drinking the green tea and taking coq10. trying to eat healthy, exercise and limit my alcohol intake. So if we are not successful this cycle I can say I tried everything. DS told me he wanted a new baby today. LOL I told him we were working on it.
QOTW: I would be blue because its my favorite color and then I could be beautiful like the sky! LOL that sounds so corny.
Happy weekend everyone!
(((Hugs))) for your mom and she will continue to be in my T&Ps.
For me, a lot of my TTC is being happy with the measures that I took. Being able to look back, even if it is on just one cycle, and say you did everything that you could, is so much better looking back and wondering if you had done one thing different would that have changed things.

I'm so glad that your son is in a better place and I'm so glad that they have given him a diagnosis that he can understand! I know when they finally diagnosed my anxiety condition it came as a huge relief--I wasn't just somehow vaguely crazy, but there was a concrete real thing that explained how I was feeling and something that actually caused it. It makes a big difference in how you see yourself and it also allows some distance between yourself and the condition (if that makes sense). Big (((hugs))) to you and your son.

Thanks! It definitely has put at least that part of my concerns to rest.
Hmmmm . . . I vote dark brown because everything feels muddy, unclear, unpleasant, and generally depressing.
Junebug060609 - Hi lovely lady, we miss seeing you around here ((((hugs)))). Did YH find you a place? I had my DH get a mailbox so we can start having some mail forwarded and have a valid address for my applications. What was your final decision on the hysteroscopy?
He did find a place, signed a lease this morning! It should be a good fit for us. Now to transfer all the doctors and such that we need. I already lined up my OBGYN, it is the same one that I had for my mystery bleeding and other hysteroscopy...great rapport with him and it would be great to bring things full circle (from being scared something was horribly wrong and I may never have kids to him helping bring a child of ours into the world). I know which vet I want for our dog as well...but all the other docs and dentists and specialists...I'm clueless.
For the hysteroscopy, if this cycle is a bust (I'm like a week DPO, go by the OPKs not the temps) then I'll have pre-op next Weds and then the surgery will be on Sept 5. It's possible this cycle could work out, but being 9 months in to TTCAL I'm not exactly counting on this cycle turning out different than any other.
Thanks again for the checkin Buggirl, and I sure can't wait to see your kitchen pics...friends' renos are like porn to me
gscoville - Nice CHs lady! And I like your timing. I know that has been an issue with all of your travelling. One week of the 2WW down. How are you holding up?
Yes, travelling has been an issue the last couple cycles, and was damn close to it this one too - we had sex Thursday morning basically right before I left for Seattle, and it looks like I actually O'd the next day or so, surprisingly enough. I'm actually pretty relaxed in this 2WW because I honestly don't think just one morning of sex in my FW is all that much to be hopeful about, and with our OB appointment in October I'm basically of the mindset that were just in a holding pattern until then to see what plan of action we'll get moving forward. Kind of a weird limbo I guess, but I'll take relaxed over obsessive any day! Lol
Wow, great question, but tough!! I think my crayon colour would be royal blue, it's my fave colour and I always feel like it's a strong but not in-your-face flashy kind of colour. I am a strong person with a great sense of humour and definite views that I will share if I feel necessary, but in a crowd or with a larger group I tend to be more of an observer, sort of a quiet but supportive presence for those who know me well and seemingly shy to those who don't.

That is wonderful that you are going to end up with a doctor you trust! I'm so excited for you and glad you have things starting to line up.
It's hard to be optimistic but I'm going to hope that you do not have to have the hysteroscopy.

It's funny - I actually feel better when our timing is O-1 (we've got pg twice, maybe three times on that). When we actually had "better" timing, nada. I'm glad you are not stressed out and are just going with until your appointment in October.
Bug - can't wait to see before and after pics! I love watching home improvement shows and can't wait to own a house (next year? ) to work on.
As for us, yes I should be starting BCP middle of next week. I'm starting to get excited yet worried at the same time because of course I see enough people post that IVF doesn't work for and since we can only afford one shot (and if any frozen one FET) I'm kind of putting all my eggs in one basket.
QOTW: I'd be the crayon Blue Violet as that bluish purple is the closest to my wedding color my bridesmaids were in and I love thinking about our wedding day as it truly was one of (if not) the best day(s) of my life.
Definitely share renovation pictures!!! We did our master bath (very tiny bathroom) in the spring and the kitchen is next. I currently have purplish counter tops and backsplash...needs to go! We replaced all appliances (steel) when we moved in 3 years ago, the cabinets are (were) new and nice, but need new countertops, paint and tile!
Eliz77 - Did you decide whether you were going to bench yourself another month?
Yes, we will bench ourselves another month. Just seems to be wise in the grand scheme of things timing wise and gives us a chance to gather more information. I'm actually fine with it...a couple days ago my TTCAL brain was haywire, but I have convinced myself 4 weeks away really isn't too far off!
QOTD: My favorite color is purple, and I have always gravitated towards it-case in point, I am wearing a purple shirt, toes are purple and have on purple flip flops. I always have to have something purple when I show my horse and dog, it's my one "superstition". I just looked up what the color represents: "purple represents the future, the imagination and dreams, while spiritually calming the emotions." Sounds good to me!.

It's scary and you have to be prepared that it might not work as protection for yourself. When I did an IVF cycle in 2004 (I was a poor responder and the RE recommended cancelling prior to ER), we went forward anyways. My now ex-H had decided we would do only one IVF cycle, and was not willing to go forward with another one, even if we cancelled. Keep in mind that many of the people out there that had a failed cycle may have had other issues, poor quality embryos, etc. They are not you.
I'm also hoping that you are a great responder, get a lot of great quality embryos, and that you have plenty to freeze so that all of your eggs are not literally in one basket.
Definitely share renovation pictures!!! We did our master bath (very tiny bathroom) in the spring and the kitchen is next. I currently have purplish counter tops and backsplash...needs to go! Four weeks is really nothing! I'm glad you are at a nice, peaceful place. No relax and enjoy this next month.
Hi Bug!! Congrats on finishing the cabinets. Can't wait to see pics! Oh, and thank you so much for setting up the exchange - I'm very excited to participate!
HoldingOutHope- I know part of your benching is to confirm that you are ovulating. Isyour doc going to do ultrasounds or blood work (or both)? Do you have
any plans or goals you want to do during your benched time?
I have a follow up u/s next week, but I think it's more of a m/c follow up and to check my lining. No more planned after that. She did some bloodwork but we're not doing the RPL testing at this time. Plans or goals... Well, we're moving in a few weeks, so that is a big project that will take my mind of being benched, thankfully! I would like to lose the 10 extra pounds I've been carrying since my first loss. As part of that, I plan to stick with clean eating better than I was over the past year, I'm gluten sensitive and really need to be more careful about what I eat. I'd also like to go on a ski trip before we get serious about TTC again. I've only been skiing once, but I loved it! ;-)
QOTW: I think I would be turquoise. That's not even my favorite color, but it's such a soothing calming color. I could use some of that in my life right now.
Good luck with the weight loss! I still have my extra weight from my first loss and am really getting to the point that I want to lose it - unfortunately, I'm not quite to actually doing anything about it. 8-| I know that a couple tweaks to my diet would make a big difference and I just need to start.
VeganLady
- Hey! You are the only person I know who posted a pic of the dildo
cam. How did the appointment go and when is your next monitoring u/s?
Also, how are you doing on the clomid?
You're welcome :-)The appointment went pretty well. I had the US and saw 6 follies on one side and 8 on the other. I go back on the 30th to see how things are shaking loose.
I did ask about the TSH numbers. There was a thread here about some REs thinking your numbers had to be 1-2 for conception and mine are 2.8. My RE said that's false, and just pointed out the normal reference range for the lab that goes up to 5.5. I'm not sure what to think about that. I've gotta P&R so I can go help with my IL's 50th wedding anniversary party. Oh joy. Hope you're all having a good weekend!
I think 14 follies on day 3 is great! I think they told me they look for around 6 per ovary so you are definitely were you are supposed to be.
I think the TSH numbers being lowered is fairly new and fairly controversially. Mine was 3.3 and my RE was not concerned.
Hey @buggirl72! I'm a little late with this...been busy these last few days! I hope you're doing well this weekend
ashellypnut - Did you end up having a talk with your friend about backing off on texting/talking to you about her pg? (((hugs))) This is so hard already and having friends who appear to have zero problems getting pg do not make it any easier.
I did and she was very understanding and a little embarrassed that she didn't realize this before I pointed it out to her. All is good! I am truly happy for her but being the one to reach out for information will definitely help! Thanks for the advice!

Oh good! I'm so glad she took it well. That should make the next several months a lot more bearable.
Late as usual! I'm thinking about cutting back on check-ins -- I am currently doing AMA, IF, January and July (plus some on other boards) and it's getting to feel like a lot of work. I end up feeling like I can't contribute as much as I would like to each thread. But if I cut anything out, it would probably be the EDD months as I have more in common with women who are AMA or IF than I do with women who just happened to be due in the same month as I was...much as I PPH many of them!
ball.and.chain
How are you doing? I stalked you and saw that your ute is fine! Yay!
It sounds like your RE has a good plan on what she wants to do going
forward and is being very proactive.
Well...I broke my foot in two places yesterday! I guess 2013 is not my year -- in 35 years I have never broken a bone or been to the ER. I really did not appreciate in the past how hard it is to get around or do anything. I've had crutches since 11 pm last night and I'm already tired of them. Showering was interesting! I'm most worried about my commute, which involves the subway and a fair amount of walking. Parking is like $40 a day by my office. But at least it's my left foot, so I am capable of driving!
But yeah...my ute is fine, anyway. So there's that! We do have to delay another cycle to build up my lining with estrogen, but it is what it is.
QOTW: Green blue!

I here you on the check-ins. Being a part of two is my limit and I'm pretty bad about giving updates on the ones I run.
That's horrible about your foot! I hope you do not have to be on the crutches too long!
I loved green-blue (and blue-green). I was not happy when they retired those colors. It was like crayola stole part of my childhood.
Re: ***<><>AMA weekly check-in<><>***
Update: I called and asked yet again if they wanted me to come in for a 7dpiui progesterone check.

I like your color choice! I wonder what an anxious color would be?

For me, a lot of my TTC is being happy with the measures that I took. Being able to look back, even if it is on just one cycle, and say you did everything that you could, is so much better looking back and wondering if you had done one thing different would that have changed things.

I hope your mom starts feeling better soon.

Hey Bug,
Thanks for doing the check in!

~All AL'ers welcome~
gscoville - Nice CHs lady!

I'm also hoping that you are a great responder, get a lot of great quality embryos, and that you have plenty to freeze so that all of your eggs are not literally in one basket.

I think the TSH numbers being lowered is fairly new and fairly controversially. Mine was 3.3 and my RE was not concerned.
