Fitness/Healthy Living Checkin - do we have one?

I'm going to try really hard to be much more active this pregnancy. Is there a check in for this yet? I know I've seen them on other boards but I don't think I've seen one here. Would anyone be interested in one (assuming there isn't one yet)?

Re: Fitness/Healthy Living Checkin - do we have one?

  • This is my first, so I don't know of any other exercise check ins, but it sounds like a cool idea.  My goal is to keep moving my butt so I gain weight on the lower end of the range, labor is supposed to theoretically be less problematic, and it should hopefully be a little easier to loose the weight afterwards.  I'm open to suggestions here!

  • I'm down for one. I need it and look at birth as the biggest athletic event of my life. I let myself get out of shape since March, although I consistently walk my dogs and have had some inconsistent working since then. My goal is to continue and increase my walking, 20-30 min a day; yoga 2x/wk and weights 3xwk to keep muscle and thus metabolism optimal. So far I've got the walking in check, picked up a yoga video from the library today and hopefully starting a new job at a gym next week thus getting in the weights:) I have weights at home, but can't seem to motivate myself to lift them here:P
  • It seems like there is interest and no one knows of another check in - I'll see what I can pull together for a weekly check in and start it this week!

I gained far too much with my last pregnancy and, while I got all 53 pounds off (whoa!), I would really rather do this the right way this time around.

  • I'd love a check-in! This time around my plan is to keep doing cardio+ strength training 3x week ( which is what I have been doing for 8 months) but also add a 30 mins walk to the days I don't workout. Last pregnancy I gained little but it took me FOREVER to get back in shape (2 yrs) so this time around I wrote the whole thing down
  • Oh and last time bc I wasn't in shape I had a major back pain at 8 months. It was insane. I hope this time I can avoid that
  • So I own and operate the local Fit4Mom franchise in my town (Stroller Strides).  So I lead moms in full body workouts and power walking/running 4 days a week.  I have been slowing down for the last week or so because I haven't felt great, but I'm there. :)

  • I love this idea. After medicating my heartburn with ice cream and gaining 40 lbs on my already-overweight frame last pregnancy, I have managed so far to not gain any weight yet with this one. I also was borderline gd, so there is even more motivation to eat well & exercise!
  • I'm down!  I make myself accountable by logging my workouts on dailymile, but I'm really the only one who sees it :D

  • I'm in! I was trying to lose weight before I found out I was pregnant. I plan on continuing my running 5-6x/wk with weights 3-4x/wk. hopefully I keep it up!

  • I'm trying to keep up running but it's gotten soooo much harder. I ran a 5k yesterday and it was nooo fun.

  • I'm going for a fit and healthy pregnancy :) the benefits for the baby are amazing! Running and other exercise is directly correlated with the size of your placenta, also more oxygen for the baby which is great for brain development! Now I just have to get past this week of nausea and spotting and just do it! So proud to see this check in!
  • I'm in! I remember this being mentioned before but I don't think I got off the ground. Definitely interested.

  • I'm in. With DS I did so good working out, but this time around its going to be hard since I have DS and a lot less time. I've been doing yoga and a few small weight stuff at night. It's the only free time I have. I do need to get back to walking more.
  • This post alone is making me go to the gym today so thanks!!!
