Let's talk about poop!

My 4.5 month son used to poop everyday, multiple times even. Lately he'll go days where he doesn't go, sometimes there's streaks on his bum but nothing more. When he does go it looks like it may hurt as he turns bright red and sometimes grunts a little and they're always total blow-outs. Should I call the pedi? He's breastfed.

    My pedi told us its normal for babies to go up to 4 days without pooping, even breastfed ones. However if it seems like it really hurts to go or if the poo is pebble-like it's time to make an appointment.

    All three of my kids did exactly as you describe. Perfectly normal IMO and DS is still having poops just like that.

    Thanks for the replies, they are anything but hard and pebble-like! He usually goes every 4 days so we're good!
