I was at my OB appointment yesterday and the nurse who was weighing me and taking my stats asked me if I am still breast feeding. I said yes, why? She says "well you know about breastfeeding and pregnancy, right?" I said "what about it?" She very proudly responds "You can't! You have to quit!!" I of course went on to tell her, "umm.. NO" She with a slight attitude started asking if I had already spoken to the OB and that if i haven't I need to. Of course my OB said "you can absolutely nurse, but it will probably cause some cramping." Why must people speak without being educated on the subject? What if she told someone who didn't know and they really took what she said seriously? I was just blown away.
Re: uneducated nurse! (ob vent)
At our first prenatal visit the nurse asked if we had concerns and my husband asked about the likelihood of our child having dyslexia since his brother has it. The nurse rolled her eyes and gave a little chuckle and said, "well EVERYONE has that nowadays don't they". We told the OB and he made sure we did not have her tend to us the rest of the pregnancy.
I have not been to see the OB yet.
I won't be surprised with anything she says. I will do what I need to do...
