Working Moms

Speaking of having three or more kids.....

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

Re: Speaking of having three or more kids.....

  • I'm a mom of two but can understand why (based on the examples given) why three kiddos can be tough.

Ignoring all other details, I enjoyed the statistic 46% of moms say their husbands/partners cause more stress than their kids do.

  • I'm glad it said having two kids is easy, because I am really stressing about going from 1 to 2.

  • @CarrieB. You'll be fine!  Going from 1 to 2 is a big change but once you get into your routine it gets easier, which is how people even get the idea to have a third ;-)

It's so true though, isn't it?  My kids toys could be all over the place and it would barely phase me but if I come home to a sink full of breakfast dishes that my husband didn't get around to doing anything with all day then I'm instantly annoyed/stressed.

  • My Aunt has five and she says her third was the hardest transition.  Not because she was a hard baby, but just because of how much things changed.  I guess you are just outnumbered at that point.  She says she just remembers thinking, "What Happened?!"  Then she said, four and five were easier again.  Couldn't have been that bad though because she continued to have kids and says if she hadn't had breast cancer she would have had more.

Sooooooo true! I can handle it when my three year old won't eat his veggies, but when a grown man dictates that he can't eat tomatoes, onions or broccoli because they make him gag, I wanna bop him one.
  • Yes, I really also think it depends a LOT on the kids. My second was a SUPER hard baby so that was VERY challenging. Our third has been a breeze, thank goodness, b/c she plays quietly while the big sibs demand all the attention.
