Stay at home mommy rut - In need of ideas!

I'm a stay at home mom to an almost 15mo little girl, and I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut. First, I'm looking for some new ideas for lunches. She eats fine, so I don't necessarily need "fun" ideas, just healthy (preferably easy) ones. She doesn't like lunch meat, so most sandwiches are tough (we do PB&J already). I just feel like she's constantly getting the same few things. I'm also looking for some new ideas on what to do with her during the day. We live on Kauai, so there aren't a lot of the typical baby outings available, and we pretty much have our outings covered anyway. It's more stuff to do at home when playing with her that I'm looking for. Thank you for any suggestions!

  • When we are home we usually have leftover s for lunch. My son is 14 months and he obsessed with dipping, so I usually add a sauce for him. Some of his favs are any type of quesadilla, any type of veggie in ketchup or hummus, and quiches. Activity wise we usually go outside and play. His favorite indoor activities are fort building and tumbling with the couch cushions, sweeping, filling bags or boxes and then taking everything out. Pintrest has tons of ideas for sensory play and indoor activities. Btw I love Kauai it is so beautiful.
  • The easiest and healthiest lunch thing I found is avocado or hummus spread on whole wheat toast. It's my go to and my boys LOVE it. I too am a sahm and very often feel like I give them the same foods. As far as things to do we play with toys a lot together but they also really enjoy walks and any errands/outings. I just signed them up for gymboree so that'll help break up some of the monotony that I sometimes feel. If you have any outside stuff to do that's always a hit (water table, pool, swings etc).

  • I am in the same position as far as rut goes. So the other posts helped me too. Thanks for the ideas and I'm totally going to check out Pintrest! :D

  • For lunches I do sweet potato and apple pancakes with almond butter, sweet potatoes, pasta, beans, frozen veggies, chicken, meatballs

For activities, we play with pots and pans and other random stuff from the kitchen, she loves to roll stuff across the coffee table and bounce stuff that will make fun sounds on the tile floors (like ping pong balls). We sing songs. I let her play in the bath with sponges. Some ideas I got off Pinterest or blogs that worked well were discovery bottles, finger painting, dropping buttons or other flat things through a slot (I cut a slot in the lid of a formula can).

    I love seeing others' ideas!
