Gas pain after section?

I had an RCS yesterday and have had terrible pain up in my neck area. The nurse said it was from has bc I hadn't passed any yet (earlier) and I remember it with my son.

It hurts more than my incision! Any tips for reliving the pain?

  • I had an order for Gas-X in the hospital.  Maybe you can get them to give you that.

  • Get up and walk several times a day. Don't drink from a straw

  • My nurse recommended hot water with lemon. It either worked for real or just mentally but easy enough to try.
  • I am 5 days post-op and am in so much pain from the gas. I had the shoulder pain in the hospital and they gave me gas-x which definitely helped. oh and I am in love with my heating pad right now.

  • I had gas trapped in my shoulder, it was horrible to lay on that side.  It eventually passed.  My OB's nurse just said to keep moving to work it out.

  • I can completely understand your pain. I delivered my twins last week via c-sec and I had terrible gas. Try gas X or tell your nurse how bad the pain is. They usually place an order for other gastric medications. My experience was very bad. Something I would never ever forget!!! My incision didn't hurt as much as my abdomin did because I had soooo much of gas in me. On that a nurse made me drink cold drinks and made it worse. In hope you find relief and recovery soon. Take care.

Oh by the way, lying on your left side helps you get rid of the gas. You can keep some warm packs on your abdomin area as well. It helped me when I was in the hospital.
  • Is it common to still have gas pains like sharp pains and cramps 4 weeks post op? I am still having bouts of gas pains and not sure if this is expected and will subside or if I am going to have this ongoing problem now
