Do you use a disposable nipple or pour into a regular bottle? Just wondering if LO will be extra gassy with the disposable nipples because there is no venting mechanism in the bottle. Thanks for your feedback :-)
When in the hospital, they gave us nipples to use on the travel/ready to go bottles. I just wash those nipples and reuse them. I don't see a difference in gas with my LO. I do burp him a bunch during the feeding though.
I started out using the nipples that came with them, but ended up switching because of gas issues. I like the similac bottles, they're vented and have a mixer/bubble killer thing on the inside that helps with gas.
I wash out the nipple and plastic ring that comes with the bottles. Every couple of days, I hrow the older ones out. I also make powdered formula mixes with the Tommy Tippee Closer to Nature prep perfection machine and then use Dr. Brown's bottles. Baby does best with Dr. Brown's so far.
We use a disposable nipple because that's what we were given in the hospital (we were there being monitored for 24hrs. because her pediatrician thought she wasn't back to her birth weight yet). I'm not sure if she's extra gassy because we weren't able to use our Tommy Tippee that much before using the disposable nipples (I was mostly bfeeding before the hospital stay, and even when we were told to supplement we used a syringe at first).
Tricia560, I had actually heard about the Gerber latex nipples, but I notice they only come in medium flow. So, what do you do if you need a slow flow? And what to do when the nipple gets too small? Wonder if it will hard to switch to the Gerber silicone nipple.
