ER Visit (npaifr)

My husband came home from being in the field tonight clearly having an allergic reaction to something. He was covered head to toe in a rash, his face was swollen, and his voice sounded strange. I made him get in the car and drove him straight to the ER which is 5 min away. On the way there he started having trouble breathing so I started running red lights (I at least looked both ways). By the time we got there his face was almost unrecognizible and he was in anyphlaxis. They took him in immediately and shooed me away. They were able to restore his breathing with meds, but he was still kept there for quite awhile until the swelling went down and the rash started to clear. He is on meds and will need to go to an allergist. We think the reaction was in response to a fire ant bite. He has had bad swelling from those before, but never anything like this. I am just so glad he ended up being ok, tonight was one of the scariest nights of my life. Will there never be an end to the things life makes us worry about?

Glad DH is ok make sure he get prescribed an epipen. Worrying never ends.

Thanks guys for the support. He is doing better today, but is really tired. He has an appointment with his doctor first thing Monday morning and will likely be referred to an allergist from there. I'm hoping his regular doctor will write him a script for an epi pen for the meantime just in case!
