Cloth Diapering

Need Tide help please

I recently switched over to using powder Ultra Tide Original on my dipes. I loved the outcome, so I bought my second box of Tide yesterday. I opened it up to find little blue specs in the detergent. The first box of powder Ultra Tide Original that I bought did not have these, it was just plain white detergent. I bought the exact same kind only a bigger box this time. I'm wondering why the detergent is different and worried that this could harm my dipes.

Tide Users- does your powder Ultra Tide Original have little blue specs in it? Do you think it's ok to use this, or should I exchange for a new box?

I'll try to add photos, but I'm not quite sure how to do it correctly.

  • Someone posted about this same thing not too long ago.  Seems like they changed their formula, and we don't know yet if it is going to still be CD safe.  Try emailing the company?

  • I just called Tide and they said that the formula HAS been changed. They are now including "Acti-Lift" in the original powder. She said that the acti-lift includes cleaning enzymes, whiteners (non-bleach), and cleaning polymers (sp? not sure if that is the right word).

Anyone know if this Acti-Lift is safe for CDs?

  • Um, aren't those basically the things you want to avoid in CD safe detergents?  I know you want to avoid enzymes and brighteners, not sure if brighteners and whiteners are the same thing.
Drat, I'm back on "Team Picket Tide," I say we stage a huge uprising and insist that Tide continue to market the original version.

  • I've been using the new version of Tide and so far haven't had any problems.

That's what I thought, but I hadn't seen an uproar here so I thought maybe there was something I didn't know. And you know what, now that you say it, I think she did say brighteners, not whiteners.

Ugh! So disappointing! I had just found my groove with a successful wash routine with Tide after a problems with stink. SO mad!! I'm all for an uprising!!

Technically, didn't they already have them?  According to the detergent list that gets passed around here, they have Tide as already having the brighteners.
Well, that's a very good point.  But if they already had them, then why did the Tide lady say they added them?

  • So called Tide as well and yes they already had all those things in them they just changed the formula and amounts. I also called Best Bottoms, who I use and say Tide is safe, and asked them about Tides new formula and they believe it should be fine.

Side note:@NKaeding are you a football fan or is your name just a coincidence?
