Favorite Random Baby Items

Occasionally some fun or weird baby product pops up on the board (like that awesome AC fan tube thing in the car seat post below) and most people haven't heard of it. What products have you stumbled upon or been introduced to since having LO? Lets share some nifty products!

  • Its a little ways off for our little ones, but these things are really cool. They're called Dapper Snappers and they help bring in the waist of pants that are too big, but you need them for the length. So if you have tall kids, check it out.

Another cool thing I found out isn't really a product as much as a neat idea. I had an old smart phone sitting in a drawer and realized that I could use it over wireless without it being hooked to Verizon. I have Pandora on it and play it for Ginny when she's falling asleep. Works like a charm and its portable.

My latest neat baby find are these baby leg sock things. I saw them on BabySteals, but they were ridiculously expensive. I found a tutorial to make them and its SO easy! I'll be able to put them under dresses all winter without battling baby tights. Woo!

  • Hhhmm that belt is awesome, I have a long skinny baby.

Only thing I can think of that I didn't know about until recently is the mesh teether. We love it so much! I put frozen fruit purees in it and it's his favorite thing to play with and chew on. It's messy but worth it. He doesn't like regular teethers.

  • My LO loves his giraffe Wubbanub so much! The sound machine we use at night in his room is super helpful too. We have it on the rain setting.

@ohsewcrafty I love babylegs! I am not a sewer so I have succumbed to buying a few pair. :)

This also works to run a video-monitor over WiFi without killing your 3G minutes -- and then you don't have ot bother with a super fancy video monitor, you can just go buy a web cam.

I found these onesies by Spa Silk that button up the front and around the diaper so that you never have to take the onesie off over babies head -- not a big deal NOW but when he was a newborn, they were lifesavers.  I ordered them off of Amazon.

  • Someone here suggested it long ago but the Milkies Milk Saver is amazing. I almost never have to pump because the milk I save from let downs is enough for a bottle each day.

Guava mitts! Mittens that actually stay on - a necessity for my LO who was managing to scratch his face while sleeping in spite of daily nail trimmings.

For play, baby einstein take along tunes, my pal scout, the Sophie teether, my first reader (DS loooves this-highly recommend) and kick and play piano.

DS isn't into these yet, but I found a line of books called indestructibles. They feel like paper but cannot be ripped and can even be tossed in the washing machine! Genius!

I just bought a growth chart by oopsie daisy that is super cute and they have several cute designs.

And finally, things we can't live without: cheap sound machine by conaire for white noise, onesie extenders bc DS is super tall and the rock n play (though it will be retired this week).

    Love this thread!!

Is this the reader you're talking about?

Amazing! I missed that, but I was telling my mom a little while ago that I wished they had something like this. Where do you get them?

I bought mine on Amazon! Pretty cheap, too. I think it was like $25 or so.

  • A travel bed, it has been so useful on the trips we have taken and it folds up to about the size of a medium/large bag and it has a strap to carry it. It also fits into the luggage bag I use for my LO. We didn't want to get a pack n' play so this was a great alternative for us. I also have a bath thermometer, which looks like a turtle on a floaty ring (I tend to take pretty hot showers/baths and knew I wasn't going to be a good judge of water temp), it doubles as bath toy. It beeps slow if it's too cold, and fast if it's too hot.

Lol! I have to be diligent about it, including night time feedings, but I can usually save about 4 oz in 24 hours. Sometimes a little more, if I've eaten a couple lactation cookies ;)

These bottles. I think the idea is awesome. I haven't personally tried it but had I still been breasfeeding I think we could have really benefited from them with how gassy they were!

  • I love babylegs. The kiddos wear them all the time at home and they are so awesome when traveling. And those links that you use to hang toys from car seats. I swear they like the links more than the toys.
