STM: a shoe size question

I found super cute shoes at target today for $3. I want to buy a pair for next fall for DD, but am not sure what size to get. DD is currently in a 3 so I'm thinking a 6 or 7? What size shoe was your 2 year old wearing?

To give you an example, James was in a 5 on his first birthday and just moved into an 8 on his second birthday.

ETA: since you are starting out much smaller, I would probably only go up 2 sizes.

  • DS was a 4-5 as a 1 yr old & 7-8 as a 2 yr old.

  • Probably a 6-7 would be a good bet, but ds1 has been all over the place with shoe size. He's gone through some sizes in a month or two, and now he's been a 10 for quite awhile (3.5yrs). It's been hard to predict what size he's going to be.

  • DD started wearing a 6 when she turned 2.  When she was one she was a 3 almost 4.

  • It can really vary with growth spurts and your individual child.  My 2 2/12 year old is wearing a 5.
  • My info probably isn't the norm. M is in a size 2 now. When V was 2 she wore a size 4. My girls have small feet, but so do I, size 5 or 6 women's, 4 in boys.
    Daaamn. I'm a size 11. Haha.

  • I guess for $3 I can get her two sizes, she will fit into one of them for sure and it is still going to be cheaper than buying when I know the size.

    Thanks!

  • Summer turned 2 last month and she's in a 6/7.  When my boys turned 2 they were in 7/8.

I have small feet too! 5 or 5.5 and my kid wears SKR and Pediped 0-6 months I think that's a 1 or 2?
    Glad I am not alone!

  • My kid has only worn shoes like 2 times and they were sandals when he was like 6 months. How do you fit a baby for shoes? Dumb question?

@mhanson18 I use the pediped app on my iPad, but have also taken her to stride rite to get a fitting. In reality I have to put each brand on her foot to see if it will work in a given size. We currently have shoes in size 2, 3. 0-6months and 6-12 months that all fit. She did not start wearing shoes until she was walking outside of the house, now she wears them every time we go out.
