My 1yo is having a clingy phase where all she wants to do in the mornings is sit in my lap, hang on my pant leg, or hold my hands so I can help her "walk." Needless to say, we are having a hard time getting out of the house in the morning.
How did/do you keep your pre-walking baby busy in the mornings? She'll read a book or play with a toy on her own for about 30 seconds but then wants me to help. I'm fast with packing lunch, but not quite The Flash.

Re: XP: the morning clingys
I try to just talk to DS about what I am doing or sing to him so he still knows I am interacting with him and not ignoring him. But is all else fails and we have to be out the doir for something and I can't stop to comfort or help him every three seconds then I pullout my mei tei and strap him to me.
When DH is out if town like this week, I try to get myself ready before DS is awake. When he does wake up before I am done getting ready I have him hang out in his pack n play in my room while he has his morning milk. I put a couple toys in there and position it so he can see me. He never fusses, then I use his high chair and Cheerios to keep him happy while I make breakfast, then after breakfast we get him ready and I take him to day care on my way to work.
DS went through a clingy/whiny stage when he first moved to the toddler room at daycare, thankfully that was short lived. He has always gotten whiny when he is very tired or hungry.
And @L12541, glad I'm not alone in this developing all of a sudden. That's pretty sweet that you can come back home to finish getting ready but I bet it's still a big wrench in your morning schedule.
