Brick Fireplace Guard

I've mentioned before that our finished basement was flooded and destroyed the weekend M was born.  Two years later, and we're finally making an appointment for the finishing touch on the renovation - new carpet installation!  Then we can start setting up the main space for a play room/TV room.

Problem is, there is a raised brick platform with a wood burning stove.  We never ever use the stove, so I don't feel a need to completely fence off the area.  But I'm having trouble finding a good product to pad the perimeter.  For a lot of the fireplace hearth guards I've seen online, the reviews say the adhesives don't work well on brick.

Anyone have any experience with babyproofing brick fireplaces, any recommendations on products that work well?

  • Hmmm... how about those thick blankets movers use to protect furniture? Or are you looking for a non-ghetto option? Because if you are, I have no idea. Sorry.

  • I threw a body pillow across mine. DD hardly ever messes with it. Oh and the body pillow is covered in material like a chair would be, so it is pretty and sturdy.
