Postpartum Depression

struggling...

I started zoloft 4 days ago. It helped at first but last night and thismorning are bad. My arms feel numb, my stomach feels sick, gi issues, on the verge of tears, etc... how long before you know you have the right med or dose? What do you do to get through your worst days. My dd is 10 days old. Dh went back to work today which is causing my major anxiety.
thanks.
p.s. I feel like a bad mom cuz I can't "pull it together ". I was very much a type A over achiever before all this. This is just so much bigger than I am.

Re: struggling...

  • Im so sorry your struggling today. It will take at least a couple of weeks for the medication to kick in, but just remind yourself that you are doing something to make yourself feel better, and theres a light at the end of the tunnel. Can you take your baby for a walk? Are there any friends that you can call to come over and have lunch or take you out to the store or even just watch baby while you take a bath. Epson salt which contains magnesium really helps calm the body.
I know how debilitating it can be and just know you are not alone. Your husband will be home later, just try and fill in your time meanwhile.
Hope you start feeling better soon!

  • Thanks pink. All my friends work so no one there. But as soon as I can take baths again....had a c section....then I'm going to try the salts. I am seeing my therapist tomorrow so I hope that helps. I had 2 hours of crying this morning....a good afternoon...then crying again. I hope the good parts of my day continue to lengthen.
