LO's favorite meals?

DD is on some sort of food strike, and I am struggling to get her to take anything, bottles included. She refuses all of her favorites, berries with cottage cheese, sliced up fruit, pasta, pb&j, pouches, everything. I need some new ideas, some inspiration. What are your LO's favorite meals?

Re: LO's favorite meals?

  • WATERMELON!  Girl is coo-coo for watermelon.

Scrambled Eggs, open face grilled cheese, butternut squash (new fav), Couscous is always a hit...

  • I've been doing a lot of cheese ravioli (the plain frozen kind in a bag) with turkey meatballs. Kid loves it.

  • Chicken parm, quesadillas, and southwestern quinoa bake with extra cheese.

Thanks for the ideas ladies. H is rarely home for dinner, so it's typically just Hannah and I, so I'm usually just making her meals, so I've been feeling like a short order cook, which doesn't bother me when she's actually eating. I made a cheese & black bean quesadilla for her earlier, and it seemed hopeful, until she spit every single piece back out. Sigh. Lets hope it's a quick phase.

    recipe? @linzeek44
  • English muffin pizza. I use whole grain english muffins, ragu with veggies in it and cheese. She loves them! She loves steamed broccoli, diced potatoes.

We are in an opposite phase. Leo will eat anything I put in front of him. He gobbled up some sushi the other night. Tilapia, steak, pulled pork, sausage, eggs, pasta, roasted veggies, baked veggie fries (sweet potato, zucchini, squash)...

  • G's favorite meal is food. Sorry.
That reminded me of this..... :)  DD is pretty much the same right now. And she eats more if she is eating what/when we are eating.

  • DS loves fish-- salmon, haddock, trout. Plain on the grill. Avocado is loved too . I still give puréed food every meal, because with dairy, soy, egg, and nut allergies, it's hard for me to make a family meal he can eat. I'm going to have to try harder soon!

  • some of DD's favorites are: cheese, scrambled eggs, pasta with sauce, mac & cheese, gnocchi, plums, waffles, toast & cream cheese, fish sticks...I dread the day she becomes a picky toddler!

I have a similar issue. I have to use vegan recipes and just add in meat when it calls for it. Right now it's just me and Gabe, so I don't have a problem eating dairy- and egg-free meals, but it takes A LOT more work in planning since all the easy, quick meals have these ingredients in it.

  • I know how you feel, he will spit out everything or just plain refuse it.

I can't find anything that LO will eat. He would live on yogurt and watermelon if I let him.
Today my mom finally got him to eat/drink tomato soup in a cup through a straw. He gobbled it down. But I can almost guarantee if I tried tomorrow he would refuse it.

May its a teething issue, both of my kids hate all food while they are teething, I think their mouth just hurts.

  • Lily would probably eat blueberries and only blueberries every meal and snack if I let her. She also loves peas now. I make a meatsauce to go with pasta using ground turkey, chopped red bell pepper, crushed tomatoes, garlic, onion and mushroom and she will eat it by the handful. She also eats deli flat bread with avocado or hummus spread on it.

  • Leo is the same right now. I think he is working on a molar. I've been making him smoothies and he loves that, but is not interested in chewable food, except for hard stuff like carrots and nectarines which he loves to chew on but also spits out.

We make a smoothie everyday as a snack, she loves it and it keeps her entertained while the dishes are being unloaded, things from the day are unpacked, etc.

    Recipe:

    1/8 cup of ice
    1/8 cup of milk
    1/4 cup of fruit
    1 tablespoon of yogurt

These proportions are great for her appetite and straw cup. :)

I'm definitely going to have to try that tomorrow. We just had yet another failed meal. Ugh.

If you have a Magic Bullet that's how we blend everything up.  Super easy.  We got it as a wedding gift.  It's moved with us twice now and we just pulled it out of the box for these smoothies. Ha.

I think my Lilly and your Lily are twins. My kid can eat a whole pint of blueberries in 2 days. She also pops peas like candy.

I recently made an eggplant/squash/sausage dish that she gobbled up for 3 meals in a row.
