Rollercoasters... bad idea right?

DH and I have been planning on going to Michigan's Adventure but now that I know I'm KU I'm thinking it's probably a bad idea, right? What would you do?

    We have been planning to go to Hershey it now that I am pg I don't plan to go on any rides. It is not worth the risk.

    I am pretty sure most roller coasters recommend pregnant women not ride, as it is a liability to the park. Whether you do or not is up to you, but I personally would not.

    Yeah... I decided it's not worth the risk. DH and I will find something else to do :)

    I wouldn't even be considering it. I went to Disney a few weeks ago and sat out all the roller coasters and rides. Not worth the risk IMO. I live 30 minutes from Disney and got in for free otherwise I wouldn't have even gone at all.

    Definitely not worth the risk.  However, I did Six Flags when I was pg with my daughter (about a week before I knew) and nothing happened.  She asked me the other day (we were at another amusement park) if I knew anyone who had ever been on the Superman ride at SF - I told her, "Sure, you have."  lol

    I've never read anything about roller coasters but it doesn't sound like a good idea to me.  I think the biggest thing I would be worried about, since they're generally safe, is the roller coaster making me sick!

    A link to the post about roller-coasters on Pregnant Chicken.

    It's not really so much that it's been proven unsafe, but that nobody's studied it because of the ethical repercussions of experimenting to see if something will cause someone to miscarry. The concern is placental abruption, and since placental abruption can be caused by severe jarring and shaking, nobody's willing to test to see if roller coasters are within the realm of "severe". So, they're really an unknown. The signs in front of roller coasters are not because it's been proven unsafe, but because the park doesn't want you to sue them should you miscarry. For a similar reason, no OB is going to clear you to do it.

    I just wanted to provide more information - I'm certainly not advocating that you go do it. But, it is something that has had no studies done on it, so the risk is entirely yours to assume.
