I have been having a really hard time with MOTN feedings and am wondering if this is normal and I should just suck it up or if I should go to the doctor and see if something is wrong.
LO is four months old. When she was a newborn, I had to set an alarm and get up to feed her every two hours if she hadn't already woken up. She was generally up eating ever 60-90 minutes. It was rough, but I got used to it. Since then she gradually got to where she was going to sleep at 8, waking up at 3-4 and then up for the day the day around 6 or 7. I go to bed between 9 and 10 pretty much every night. A little over a week ago, she started waking up at about 12:30-1, but still wakes up at 3-4. I don't mind it because she's a baby and I considered us really lucky when she was only waking up once.
My only problem is that now when she wakes me up, I'm sick. When I get out of bed I start getting really hot and sweaty. I also get dizzy. She sleeps in an arms reach cosleeper next to my bed and on the way to the nursery to change her I often have to lean against a wall because I feel like I'm going to pass out. During the diaper change, I am so dizzy and hot that it makes me nauseous and I feel like I'm going to vomit. About 1/3 of the time I put her on the floor to change her because I'm worried I am going to pass out with her up on the table. Once we get back to bed and I nurse her, I am still dizzy and sweaty and just sit there trying to stay awake.
I don't remember ever feeling this bad when I was waking up all the time. I was hoping it was just an adjustment, but it seems to be getting worse rather than better. I am fine being awake during the day and it doesn't seem to be affecting me there. It's really just an awful 30 minutes or so twice a night.
Is feeling this bad normal? If not, any suggestions? Please no flames. I realize that we are really luck that she sleeps in big stretches, I'm just hoping to not feel this awful.
Re: MOTN Feedings/feeling sick
Same here, I know mine is a combination of not drinking enough water & our room getting really stuffy at night.
It sounds like a blood pressure issue to me. I would definitely call your doc and get checked out.
