Pregnant after 35

New To Bump Community!

My name is Christine, I am 41 yrs old and just found out I'm pregnant!  I have 2 children from a previous marriage ages 12 and 10, and became engaged to my fiancee around the same time I think I got pregnant.  Good timing!
I have to admit I'm a little nervous about doing this at this age and all the statistics you read about when dealing with pregnancies over 40. But we are both thrilled and can't believe our blessing.  :)

Re: New To Bump Community!

  • Congratulations! What wonderful news for you and your family! I am also 41 -- not only do I have the age thing hanging over me but this is my first pregnancy so everything is new. I'm just staying positive and happy that there are so many tests available now to help ease fears and make sure the little bean arrives healthy! Luckily my OB is not the doom-and-gloom type.

  • Congrats and welcome!
I think the one thing that *does* make it a challenge is trying to stay involved in my older kids' activites/homework/mayhem when all I wanna do is take a nap!

  • Congrats and welcome! I'm going to be 41 when my LO is born, and have a 10 yr old and a 7 yr old. Hubby and I always wanted 3 and just thought the 3rd wasn't to be, but got a great surprise this summer. It feels a lot like starting all over and a lot of things have changed since my last one, but despite the nervousness at first and the little bit of freaking out when my OB who already specializes in high risk pregnancies sent me to a Perinatologist in addition to regular visits with her, it has gone really great so far. Just realize when they suggest extra precautions, it is just that, a precaution, and it is only to make sure that you and your LO are getting all the attention and care you might need just in case. Wishing you all the best!
