Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Newbie here :)

Hello everyone, I'm Angela and my husband's name is Brian. I've been lurking now on this board for about a week or so and you all seem to be such friendly people - I hope you have room here for one extra person :)

Question for you all - DH and I have been TTC since July, and were ecstatic to get a BFP on 11/11. Just five days later, heavy bleeding started. Tests confirmed on 11/17 a chemical pg, with HCG levels already being at -5!!! However, it is now 12/16 and AF is no where in site. I'm definitely not PG, as I got a BFN this morning. When can I expect to get another AF? Also, I don't understand how HCG levels relate to AF and O. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks so much!

Re: Newbie here :)

  • I'm sorry you're here, but welcome aboard! AF just kinda comes on her own. Sorry I don't have more answers for you.

  • Welcome Angela. I'm sorry for your loss.  I'm not much help in answering your questions though. It's my limited understanding that you can still get AF with a low HCG.  I'm sure you've heard this alot, but everyone is different and it may just be taking a while for your body to "reset" itself.  Warmest regards.
  • I'm sorry for your loss, but welcome. I think with a chemical pg AF shows up a little sooner then a d&c. I had a d&c and am still waiting for AF, I hit 50 days today.

  • Hi, and welcome (although I am sorry to hear you had to join our club). . . after my 1st m/c AF arrived 4 weeks to the day. with my 2nd m/c I am still waiting, and it has been 67 days. If it takes more than 6 weeks you may want to call your doctor. best wishes.
m/c#1 07/16/08 (11 weeks), m/c#2 10/10/08 (8 weeks). and then nothing since except every test possible (no answers). IUI#1 and #2: BFNs Super lucky to be buddies with Peetie. Our out of nowhere, surprise DD born 5/29/2011
  • I am so sorry for your loss.  AF can take a while after your m/c -- it seems to vary from a few weeks to a few months.  Since you had a CP, I would guess that it would be around the corner for you.  Good luck!
