Breastfeeding

Advise please!

Please don't give me a hard time for asking this or call me selfish, I am just asking if this is possible at all. My newborn is 1week and 1 day today (Wednesday) and I am breastfeeding. She has absolutely no issue latching on and my supply is very good. So basically my little girl and I have to perfect breastfeeding relationship (and yes I have seen a lactation consultant in the hospital, who was impressed by my supply and her latching on so easily).

Anyways to my question.. My fiancé wants to bring me out on Saturday (she will be 1 week 4 days old) for a couple of hours for my birthday. I would be gone for one, maybe 2 feedings at the very longest. So would it be safe to pump out a couple of bottles and allow my MIL to watch her for a few hours? I wouldn't even consider it if she had any issues at all latching on or I had issues with my supply. So advise or opinion please and thank you.

  • Yes. Pump once a day for a few days a head a time and you can leave that milk. Like pp said though you will probably have to pump while you are out.

The only issue I see is that if you skip feedings you will have to pump while you are out or you are going to leak everywhere! bring pump, extra nursing pads, and change of shirt/bra.

I was wondering how I was going to pull this off without being WAY too engorged by the middle of dinner. Great advise. Next time I will probably tag you in a post over in S13 instead of coming over here, it is so much easier and you are an expert at breastfeeding tips. Thanks again :)
