Congestion?

So LO was fine all night until about a couple hours ago....that's when I noticed she sounded nasally. Since then she's woken herself up caughing twice. Not a deep or constant caugh, just a slight hack.

Anyone have suggestions on what the issue could be? Trying to gauge how concerned I should be :( also - anyone have any suggestions for relief for her? Particularly her nose. I think she needs the aspirator but I hate to break that put while she's sleeping.

  • Humidifier?

  •  I keep a humidifier running in LO's room during the night. I've noticed he has had more of a runny nose now that he's teething. Is your LO teething?
  • No teeth have popped through yet, but she's had all of the early signs for a while now. I suspect that's the culprit right now..... No fever...but she doesn't want to be put down, and she sounds so pitiful, it's making me sad :(

  • Mine was doing that last week - couldn't tell if it was a cold or teething, but he was in pain so I gave him Tylenol.

  • You could use breast milk too if you are breastfeeding. I tried and it worked for a couple days. Hated doing it though

I am Breastfeeding ---- what do I do with the milk?

I will do anything if it will help her. I think I'm more upset about this than her.

  • LO had the same thing going on last week. We've been using a humidifier and for a few days we did baby vics, and saline drops + the nosefrida aspirator. He hated it but it helped get the snot out. He never had a fever but we did end up taking him to the doc to get checked and the cold had given him an ear infection. I'm glad we caught it early instead of waiting until he was inconsolable.

  • We used a humidifier and also elevated the mattress by placing a flat pillow under one side. That helped with nasal congestion. DS had a cold and it passed after a week or two. Hope your LO feels better soon!

  • Saline really helped us with congestion. I've also heard breast milk works the same.
