Kitchen Remodel

We're finally financially ready to remodel our kitchen, but I am SO nervous. The guy we talked to said it would take probably 2 weeks to complete, and all I can imagine is two weeks of nap hell and being stuck at the house in the living room or upstairs all day. I'm trying to convince myself that 2 weeks is not that bad, but DS can be pretty grouchy, even on a good day. Have you survived a remodeling project with a LO? Any advice?

Re: Kitchen Remodel

  • We JUST finished ours!  I left on the days they demo'd and put in the cabinets...My parents live close by so I'm lucky.  The other days were pretty quiet so we stayed home but in the back part of our house.... My advice to you is have everything you think you need for your baby boy where you can easily get to it. I had two containers with food ready to go. I kept spoons, puffs, cheerios and anything else I knew she would want in there. It's also when we started using the squeezable food pouches you can buy at the store LOL....  Made life much easier when it came to doing dishes and prepping food for her :)

  • @egannon979 Thanks for the tips! We haven't done squeezy food for a while, but that's a great idea. I'm a little bit worried about just up and leaving with strangers in my house, though. We've always either done our own work on the house or stayed around while people were working. The only things we've hired done were the roof and windows, and a bad experience with the roofers has me really reluctant to trust any workman.

  • Oh no I totally agree.... Maybe should have mentioned that hubby stayed home while DD and I left LOL :)  Yeah, there's NO WAY I would leave the house with workers here by themselves :)

  • We had our bathrooms re-tiled this summer and they were here for like 8 weeks. It was ridiculous!

Naps ended up being not as bad as I expected - they only woke him up a handful of times.

I definitely left when our guy was here. I would have gone crazy if we had to stay in the house every day all summer! I didn't think it was that big of a deal...but maybe it is! It all turned out fine though.
