Psst. Can someone with good ovaries send some good vibes to mine? (VENT)

Bah!    Day 10 check today and a measly 12mm follicle (+ a 9mm, and a couple of 7s).   Argh!   We're going back on Saturday with the hopes that we might be in the "almost mature" range by then for a trigger, but looks like this is a slow growing month.   How disappointing.

The Doc put another injects cycle on the table, because I'm getting super emotions & pretty much a consistent hot flash from the clomid this cycle.   She is suggesting a Menopur + Puregon combo, which I am not sure how I feel about. The injects cycle we did was so expensive, and so disappointing....   I'm not sure I even feel open to trying that again.

I also have to figure out what's covered, because certain drugs are covered for me since I reached my 1 year mark at work but others are 100% OOP... ... we have to figure that out for the IVF cycle as well....

This is mostly just a vent.   I'm feeling emotionally miserable and my hands are freaking HOT!   I think I might be able to make them steam if I dipped them in cold water....

I am so sorry to hear this! I don't necessarily know if my ovaries are good or not (they haven't gotten me knocked up yet, which is the ultimate test), but I want to send you good vibes anyway!

You and @healz have been through a lot on this journey so far, and it seems like the universe owes you a break.

With that being said, hopefully a few more days will give your follicles time to grow - CD10 is still really early. On CD12 on femara my follicles were usually somewhere between 14-18mm... so I feel like 12mm on CD10 is really not bad. When is your next monitoring appointment?

So, here is my 2 cents on the injectible IUI cycle (FWIW), I would say to just move to IVF. At this point it is just as much about your emotional well-being and yoru financial security as it is about the actual medical procedures and success rates. For me, making the choice to move to IVF after 5 failed IUI cycles felt right and was a relief. I would rather know the path I am on and have a 50% or greater chance of success and pay a bit more up front, then keep throwing money in smaller incriments at IUIs that only have a 10-15% chance of success each time and haven't worked for me before. I know lots of people that got pregnant with IUIs, but I just didn't feel like I was going to be one of them. Maybe I would have been after 5 or 6 more cycles and 5 or 6 more months on meds and another $9k for OOP costs for sperm and IUIs.... but really, to me the impact was greater that way both financially and emotionally then to just move to IVF. So that is basically my philosophy on injects and IUI and why I ended up where I am now. With that being said EVERYONE is different, and lucky for you, you and @healz are totally awesome, intelligent, supportive partners to each other, and I know that you will make the choice that is right for you, and we will all be cheering for your success each step of the way.

My fingers will remain tightly crossed for you and this cycle, and with any luck you won't even have to think about injectible cycles or IVF or next steps or any of that nonesense!

Thanks - we have an IVF plan in place already for H's body & eggs.   Doing IVF with my body/eggs has never been on the table because my ovarian reserve is low and I respond so poorly to stims...

But because we have extra sperm (and we only need one vial for IVF) we have decided to try a couple more iui's with me before we move on to IVF, and away from my genetic material all together.    Not because it makes sense, just because we have the sperm and the time, and really why not.

Bah.   I shouldn't be disappointed in my ovaries totally, there's still time and we will likely get one mature follicle. I was hoping for 2, but we're on our last kicks at the can here so perhaps I should just start practicing radical acceptance

Nope not off the table at all. That's the idea for baby #2 if we can knock me up with #1.
Because I'm doing my PhD and M is the breadwinner, it makes sense to start with me being pregnant if we don't get M knocked up with IUIs.
