Green Smoothies

I have been struggling for a couple of months now to get Zayne to eat his veggies and he all out refuses to eat fruit. He used to eat them fine and then I think I lost him somewhere during the bottle weaning process. Anyway I decided to try making green smoothies for him and I'm happy to report that he loves them! I put it in his sippy mixed with a small amount of juice and he sucked it down. I do still offer him fruits and veggies during his meals but I'm released that I can get some good nutrients into him this way for now. I thought I would share the recipe here in case anyone else is experiencing the same troubles I am. 1 whole apple peeled diced 1/2 cup kale packed chopped 1/4 cup parsley chopped 1/2 banana diced Add all to blender with about a cup of water and blend well. I make a months worth of these ahead of time and put each serving into its own freezer bag then just pull it out and blend. Doing it ahead makes it easy to grab. This recipe makes a pretty big smoothie so I share one with Zayne. Hope this is helpful to someone, or if you have another great recipe I'd love to try it. ETA: posting from IPad sorry for the lack of paragraphs.

What a great idea! I love a green smoothie myself. But I guess I would have to leave out the protein powder for hers?

ETA: I just saw you dont even put protein powder in yours. Nevermind me. Still a great idea.

Awesome!  I actually pinned something I wanted to try myself and I am sure Liam would love it also.

ETA: babahahah I literally shared the exact same thing.  Sorry.

  • @megs52881 that is exactly where I got the recipe from I just tweaked it a little to make one serving at a time and I do a whole apple per serving to sweeten it up a bit. It works really well to make ahead and freeze and they are very tasty.

  • We've had success with green smoothies here too. I sometimes add in almond milk or a little Greek yogurt too.
