Food Gear

We are waiting until 6 months to try solids (if he displays "ready" signs by then), but tell me about your favorite food gear: spoons, storage containers (for freezing purees), blenders, etc... I feel like Amazon shopping today!

I liked the rubber Nuk spoons at first because they were small. I bought the fancy food storage containers and they were a waste of money. Far easier to freeze into ice cube trays then dump in a ziploc bag. For pureeing, I used my food processer.

ETA- I have a kitchen aid processer and I love it.

  • I usually buy whatever is on sale for baby utensils because DS1 "loses" spoons on the regular. He really just hides them whenever he can, usually it's the bottom of his toy chest. I think my biggest stocked up item for meal time would be bibs though!

  • I am with PP on the Rubber tipped NUK spoons- they are perfect and she likes to bite down on the rubber with her new shinny two bottom teeth, lol
  • We love the Sassy bowl and spoon sets. The bowl has a thumb hook so baby can't knock it out of your hand, a cover that snaps on, and its divided in two. The spoon that comes with it is super soft and awesome. They look like this...

  • I recently got the Freshfoods Mash & Serve Bowl. I've only used it once to try feeding LO avocado. It worked great (the mashing, not the feeding). I know I'll use it often once she's ready to eat solids.

I recently bought a few of NUK products, one is a set that includes a recipe book, mash and serve bowl, and storage containers (fresh baby food starter set). The other is a fresh foods freezer tray, it's similar to an ice cube tray, but it has a lid.
