I'm having an email argument with my mom and I want to throat punch her! I'm flying in to see her next week. My H will be re-piping her two story house by himself on our "vacation". I told her back in May the baby needs her own room. The guest room has bad insulation and my very elderly grandparents start going into the kitchen at 5am and it sounds like Dinosaurs roaming the universe. So naturally that wakes the baby up. Then she sees me in the room and its game over. So I suggested we put her in my mom's sewing room. Still a good size room in a quieter part of the house. Well in talking to her two days ago low and behold she took my idea but is using it for her freaking self. What. The. Fuck. I mean really what the fuck?

She is normally not selfish. I dont know if she is becoming senile or what. My H is panicking and talking about renting a hotel. I dont want to do that because that means my family time is cut short. So I send her an email saying he is about to get a hotel room what can we work out. And she replies that maybe we can put her in the furnace room. I dont even know what that is. I offered that we all sleep in the guest room together (meaning me, my H on the queen and her on the twin) yes that is awkard but whatever. Nope she is still insisting on sleeping in the sewing room. I want to kill her right now.

    Should have explained more. There is no working furnace. She got rid of it and installed an HVAC which I'm sure is outside somewhere. She lives in Idaho so the house has a main upstairs and basement get up. We normally sleep in the guest room downstairs, my mom's room is also downstairs along with her sewing room and tv/living room area. My Aunt and Uncle will also be coming. They live here so we normally all visit at the same time and have huge family reunions (mexi problems). They will sleep in my mom's room.

    Last time she slept in the room with me in the PNP. But my grandparents would wake her up because it sounds like bowling above your head. So she wakes up and normally she can go back to sleep except she sees me and wants to party. She will start yelling and crying for me because I'm in the same room. So she doesnt sleep well which leads to super cranky days. We experienced this 4 days in May. I told her back in May we've gotta change it and came up with the solution. Except she took that and made it a solution for herself. This time I'm staying a week and a half.

    Maybe I should just offer to sleep in the living room? My H is not pleased. :( I dont know why she is being so stubborn.

    For some reason this reminds me of one of our trips to see my maternal grandmother in upstate NY, my dad was so pissed/exasperated/over it that he brought a tent with and stayed in the backyard. Which, depending on the temperature, could be a viable option?!

    p.s. "Dinosaurs roaming the universe" made me giggle.
    I shit you not my H looked at tents and hotel rooms. I told him he was on his own with that. I would rather sleep on a blow up mattress in the living room. There is no way in hell I'm sleeping in a tent.

    Right? My H is like why dont I just sleep in the Pantry? I can sleep standing up in the closet... Its getting pretty stupid now.  I'm thinking that when I see her face to face I can guilt the hell out of her change her mind.

    Ugh! Sorry you are having to deal with this situation. I hope your mom can be a little more accommodating for you guys especially since your H is working on his vacation.
